Zayn Malik might be a solo artist now. However, back in the day, the British hitmaker was a part of the world-famous boy band, One Direction. Although the boys had stolen the hearts of young fans all over the world, their tale of success did not last long. In fact, the 31-year-old was the first one to break away from the group, nearly 10 years ago. While the artist has continued making and releasing music over the years, he took a rather long break from tour.
Now, Malik seems to be gearing up for his first solo tour since his split from the group. However, the news of his tour comes years after the singer aired his struggles with anxiety.

Over the years,Zayn Malikhas often spoken openly about his struggles with performing, particularly the challenges he faces with anxiety. After he departed fromOne Directionin 2015, the artist has been extremely vocal that one of the driving forces behind his decision was the intense pressure of performing live. In a snippet from his book (viaTime), Zayn, the singer went into detail about his struggles and why he canceled one of his previous performances.
I was done with putting out statements that masked what was really going on. I wanted to tell the truth. Anxiety is nothing to be ashamed of; it affects millions of people every day. I know I have fans out there who have been through this kind of thing, too, and I wanted to be honest for their sake, if nothing else.
Malik continued,“When I was in One Direction, my anxiety issues were huge but, within the safety net of the band, they were at least manageable.”After all, with 4 other members in tow,Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Niall Horan, things had been a little easier on the singer. He also added,“As a solo performer, I felt much more exposed, and the psychological stress of performing had just gotten to be too much for me to handle—at that moment, at least. Rather than hiding away, sugar-coating it, I knew I had to put it all out there.”

Malik’s decision to prioritize his mental health over the grueling demands of fame was seen as a bold move. However, it helped him gain control over his life and career. So much so that he is gearing up for his first-ever solo tour.

Ever since Zayn Malik left One Direction, his music releases have been rather scattered. With his last album,Nobody is Listeningbeing released back in 2021, the artist took a break for nearly 3 years. Just earlier this year, he wound up releasing his new album,Room Under The Stairs. It immediately caught the attention of his fans and ended up being a huge success. Now, the 31-year-old gavehis Instagramfollowing another surprise: the announcement of his first-ever solo tour.
In his post, Malik announced his Stairway To The Sky tour, which sent social media into a frenzy. The singer captioned the post,“Appreciate your patience, love and support. Can’t wait to enjoy great music together. This time I really mean soon, see you in 35 days.”Along with the announcement, he also revealed that tickets for the shows could be purchased on the ZAYN VIP Key app from September 19th.

Before Malik’s tour was announced, the singer teased the tour on the Jimmy Fallon Show. During an episode, he walked onto the set, played one of his new songs from the host’s laptop, and handed him a note that questioned what dates the 49-year-old would like tickets for. Although that should have kept fans on their toes, it was forgotten until just mere hours ago.
