The fans gathered around must have thought for a moment that the small and lean Payne stood no chance against the big and bulky Angle. On Wednesday evening, the capitol police in the highly affluent neighborhood of Palermo in Buenos Aires responded to a distress call from a hotel staff (via Reuters). The call came about an intoxicated guest, whose life was at risk since their room had a balcony. By the time law enforcement officials responded, the hotel manager had heard a loud noise at the back of the hotel.

Argentine police found Liam Payne dead in the interior patio of the hotel after he fell from the balcony. Emergency workers confirmed his death and removed his body from the hotel to take him to the morgue. Alberto Crescenti, the director of Emergency medical services, told local media that the singer had suffered serious injuries and added that an autopsy would be carried out (via BBC).
Payne had beenactive on his Snapchat accounthours before his death, making it all the more tragic to his fans. They gathered around the hotel after the news reached them to pay respects to the singer.
