For the better part of a decade, ever since Marvel and DC entered their respective eras of live-action movies, fans of the two fandoms have been aiming for each other’s necks. While both the franchises have seen a plethora of superhit projects, Marvel has habitually opted for a calmer, more comic approach, while DC have generally stayed true to its darker narratives.

Regardless, the MCU’s recent blips have led to some familiar faces returning to the franchise. On one hand, we have Robert Downey Jr. set to portray Victor Von Doom. On the other, we have theRusso brothersreturning to direct two upcomingAvengersmovies.
On the occasion, none other thanZack Snyder, responsible for some of the best-performing DC movies, expressed confidence in Marvel’s directorial duo. That effectively proves that this cutthroat rivalry might only exist in the minds of the fans.

Zack Snyder’s comments about Russo Brothers prove there is no ‘rivalry’ between DC and Marvel
The Russo Brothers [Screen Rant Plus | YouTube]Snyder was confident in his fellow directors’ abilities, and claimed that he was confident they will do a remarkable job with the upcoming films as well. That is also how Marvel fans will see the situation, considering there has been a genuine lack of direction as far as recent MCU movies are concerned, something which may have partly changed due to the release and success ofDeadpool & Wolverine.

Snyder claimed the following about The Russo Brothers:
They’re talented guys, and I think they’ll do something cool. I think it’s time to shake it up a little bit.
The comment puts the overall fan rivalry of the two fandoms in context. After all, Snyder and the Russo Brothers are the most successful helmers from either franchise. While Snyder directedJustice League, Man of Steel, andBatman v. Superman,The Russo Brothers have helmed some of the most critically and commercially successful MCU movies.

Zack Snyder says that The Russo Brothers will “do something amazing” with the new ‘AVENGERS’ films.

These includeEndgame, Infinity War,and the two Captain America movies,Civil WarandWinter Soldier. The track record effectively suggests that the upcoming movies they will work on, are also guaranteed to be a huge success, something Snyder also wholeheartedly agrees with.
Fans left with little reason to shade MCO/DC after Zack Snyder’s comments
Of course, while Snyder may be able to separate talent from rivalry, both fanbases have had consistent trouble doing so. After all, both franchises boast of some extremely popular characters, and the different approach to narratives means that viewers are bound to prefer one over the other.

That, however, does not mean that a DC fan is also obliged to shade the MCU, or vice versa, considering one of the biggest stakeholders has found no reason to do the same. A range of users reacted to Zack Snyder’s comments, with most agreeing with his take on the matter:
More than fair to say that Zack is right on the money here.
The Russo Brothers will do an INCREDIBLE job with the upcoming avengers films just as they have in the past.

We all know the upcoming Avengers films will be absolute cinema

Of course, Snyder’s comments cannot be expected to bring an end to a rivalry that has existed even before either of the Russo brothers or himself entered their respective franchises. That can be expected to continue until Marvel and DC continue to churn out new movies.
While existing DC movies are available on Amazon Prime, all of Marvel’s projects can be watched on Disney+.
