The world of anime is known for its intricate and outlandish stories. But within those stories are some of the best foreshadowing in storytelling as a whole. One such figure who is a master of foreshadowing as a tool of storytelling is Eiichiro Oda. The mangaka has long foreshadowed many pivotal plot points inOne Piecethat were well-connected later on, such as the revelation of Joy Boy. However, another mangaka could rival him, and it could be Yoshihiro Togashi if this particular theory byHunter x Hunterfans comes true.
Fans have long theorized that Feitan Fortor, an enigmatic and dangerous member of the Phantom Troupe, is actually a secret Zoldyck, the same family Killua hails from. The Zoldyck family is arguably the deadliest family of assassins in the world ofHunter x Hunter.Several intriguing details lend credibility to this theory and if Togashi admits his true heritage, the foreshadowing would be incredibly well thought out and subtle.
Feitan Shares Many Similarities to the Zoldyck Family
One of the most prominent arguments that even give fruit to the idea that Feitan is a Zoldyck lies in his uncanny physical resemblance to the Zoldyck siblings, minus Killua himself. Feitan shares distinct features with Killua’s siblings which include pale skin, black hair, and sharp, angular eyes. He is particularly similar to Milluki but thinner.

Many also theorize that the brother Kalluto Zoldyck joined the Phantom Troupe in search for is definitely going to be Feitan. The villain also shares a combat technique with another prominent Zoldyck and the deuteragonist, Killua, called the retractable claw. Perhaps Feitan ran away from the Zoldyck family to find his own calling.
Fans have also realized that Killua’s mother, Kikyo Zoldyck, was from Meteor City, a junkyard city of outcasts who have no official documentation. Feitan is also from here so his origin remains a mystery. Thus, Kikyo could’ve had a child way before having her first Zoldyck child, Illumi. Despite the age difference not making a lot of sense since she would have to be very young, it’s plausible with the mysterious nature of his origin.
The Theory Would Raise More Questions From Togashi
If all the foreshadowing is true and Feitan is a Zoldyck somehow, it would also beg to question why they would not recognize him as an official Zoldyck or why Kikyo had a son at such a young age. It would also be very out of character for her, who is very doting towards her children, to shun Feitan away, unless something incredibly malicious was involved. This would create another mystery in the world ofHunter x Hunter.

Still, if this fan theory is actually true, it would makeTogashia rival ofEiichiro Odaas a master of storytelling and subtle foreshadowing. Whether or not Feitan is truly a Zoldyck will either be answered or his origins will remain a mystery. However, the clues are in place, teasing fans with the possibility of one of the biggest twists inHunter x Hunterhistory. For now, readers can only speculate and let Togashi drive the narrative forward.
