The revelation of Yhwach’s true powers in the latest cour of Tite Kubo’sBleach: Thousand-Year Blood Warclearly establishes his reign as the overpowered king. From the first invasion to the fight against the Royal Guards, the Quincies have had the upper hand in the war so far. Had the Soul Reapers gone all out from the beginning, the outcome of the war would have looked much different.
The only saving grace for Yhwach, in that case, would have been the Almighty. Compared to the grim progression of the war so far, this possibility seems more favorable for the Soul Society. So, let’s explore what would have happened if the Soul Reapers had gone all out from the get-go.
Tite Kubo should have let the Soul Reapers go all out
Up until the final arc,Tite Kuboexplored the unique and interesting powers of the Soul Reapers in great detail. There were many fights that gave ample attention to characters other than Ichigo. However, as soon as the war started, the power difference between the Quincies and the Soul Reapers wasn’t that huge. As the war progressed, it became clear that the Quincies had the upper hand,especially after Captain General Yamamoto’s demise.
This was all because Yhwach meticulously planned the first invasion. He considered every possibility and weakened the Soul Society before unleashing his true powers. Whereas the Soul Reapers were ill-prepared and every subsequent invasion proved it.

Yhwach was still within reach, in terms of power. A Reddit user explains succinctly what would have happened if the captains used their Bankai during the first invasion itself.
The captains should have given their all using their Bankai and defeated the higher-ups in the Quincy hierarchy. This includes the likes of Haschwalth, Uryu, and the Quincy King himself. While this would’ve been the ideal situation for the Soul Society, Yhwach had the perfect counter in place.
By spreading the fear of Bankai getting stolen, he prevented the captains from freely using their powers. If that’s how the war had progressed,the only power-up that could have helped the Quincieswas Yhwach’s Almighty.
The Almighty changes everything for the Quincies
The Almighty was recently introduced in the anime. The Royal Guards who were believed to be the strongest were defeated quite easily as Yhwach reawakened the Almighty.
It’s a power that enables him to see the future and alter it. Yhwach was a menace even without this foresight, as he overpowered the Soul Society with his army. At this point, the overall strength of the Soul Society has significantly dipped with the Royal Guards and captains gone.
Moreover, Yhwach is stronger than ever. This makes one wish to see an alternate possibility where we could have seen the Soul Reapers going all out on the battlefield, something like the final showdown ofAvengers: Infinity War. The tides would have easily turned in the Quincies’ favor once the Almighty entered the picture, but the outcome would’ve been a lot more satisfying.
