Monolith Soft has detailed the new content arriving with the third volume ofXenoblade Chronicles 3’s expansion pass, which is headed to Nintendo Switch on February 15th. It will bring with it an entirely new character and a roguelike mode, in which the objective is to keep winning fights to take on the final boss.

During the recent Nintendo Direct event, developer Monolith Soft announced that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will receive an all-new volume for its expansion pass next week. The upcoming volume will be starred by Masha, the next playable character who can make use of special ore to create accessories.

The Lapidarist extraordinaire can bring these accessories into battles to come out victorious. Masha’s abilities can be learned through gameplay, giving players the boost they need to master their favorite character. For those who don’t know, a Lapidarist in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 cuts polishes and engraves gems to make a name for themselves.

In the form of a roguelike mode, the third volume introduces Archsage’s Gauntlet, in which players will choose one of the game’s main cast to slay hordes of progressively more powerful enemies. They will battle alone initially while recruiting more heroes and gaining special abilities with every win. Players must keep winning until they take on the final boss to earn special rewards for clearing the content. The Lanz outfit is among the rewards that bring references to previous games by making him look like Reyn.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has been keeping players engaged with new DLC volumes that include items, characters, and story arcs. The first volume of the expansion pass was released back in July 2022, adding color variations for existing outfits and a bunch of new accessories. The second one came out in October, introducing the Challenge Battle mode with a variety of enemies. An entirely new character and accompanying quests were also added to the game with the second wave.

Last but not least, players got a sneak peek into the story-focused fourth volume via a teaser that features a few scenes of Shulk and Rex going up against Alvis. The next volume seemingly includes some nods to previous games, with several characters from the first and second entry in the series making their return in a new adventure.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 received a positive reception upon its launch, as the game has been nominated for Game of the Year, Best RPG, and Best Score & Music categories at the Game Awards 2022. The latest entry in the action RPG series is available now on Nintendo Switch.
