XDefiant, Ubisoft’s long-awaited free-to-play shooter, has finally launched globally. Unfortunately for the company and players alike, it’s not been a smooth launch, but players nonetheless seem to be rushing to get into the game anyway.

Even before launch, Xbox users have been facing unique problems that players on other platforms haven’t been. It seems like one user might’ve found another issue to add to the list.
XDefiant Continues to Spell Trouble for Xbox Players
Earlier this month, we learned that players on Microsoft’s consoledidn’t have an option to switch off crossplay onXDefiantdirectly from the game. On the company’s special request, Ubisoft had to remove the option for the Series X/S, as the gaming brand wanted its users to turn the option off through the console’s native crossplay settings.
As if that wasn’t infuriating enough for some players, now that the game’s launched, it seems Series X/S users continue to find issues with it for their devices. On the game’s subreddit, one user complained that it refused to output the game at 120fps on their 1440p 144hz monitor, despite having no problem doing so with other games.

Every time they attempted it, the game would return the error that either their hardware or operating system was preventing the feature from working. A high FPS is essential for any shooter, especially when you’re playing in higher ranks where every millisecond of reaction time counts, so this was a grave issue.

A few others replied to the post, claiming that they had the same problem. One user said that it was something they faced during the beta test, but they were hoping it would be patched out.

Unfortunately for them, it wasn’t looking the case. Or, at least, before OP heroically managed to find the solution to this odd problem:
…make sure you go to your Xbox settings, go to TV and display, and then go to video modes. You’ll find an option to deactivate HDR.

Once you’ve deactivated it make sure you quit and restart the game. You should have the options for 120fps after. Let me know if this helps.
The solution worked for several people, so if you’re one of the affected, this might be of some help to you. However, it would be better if this was avoidable.
Ubisoft’s New Shooter Could Convert Many Players
The game was repeatedly compared toCall of Dutybefore launch, with players confidently claiming they’d move from it to Ubisoft’s title. Lucky for them, they’ll feel right at home, considering some skilled mischief makershave already hacked the game.

Aside from that, it’s hard to tell this early whether it’s theCall of Dutythe players wanted it to be. But without a doubt, many people want to give the game a shot.
One of the biggest plus points of the title was that it didn’t include skill-based matchmaking (SBMM). This is a feature that online shooter players have spoken against in the past and continue to do so.
