Wuchang: Fallen Feathershas a wide array of tough bosses who can easily tear you to pieces, and Bo Sorcerer is perhaps one of the toughest bosses to beat, especially during the mid-game.
The Bo Sorcerer is the area boss of the optional Avian Marsh region. While defeating her is not crucial in beating the game, it does help level you up and make the main storyline much easier to complete. She’s also important to the White-Robed Elder questline.

10 Most Unfair Soulsborne Boss Fights
These fights are frustrating for all the worst possible reasons.
This bird-like humanoid is fast, has powerful spells at her disposal, and can divekick you into the ground if you’re not prepared well enough.
In this guide, we’ll explain how to beat the Bo Sorcerer inWuchang: Fallen Feathers. You’ll also learn about one of the best spells in the game,as well as an excellentlongsword build and strategy.

Where To Find Bo Sorcerer
The Bo Sorcerer is located at Mt. Zhenwu,in the forests surrounding the Avian Dwelling and Avian Marsh shrines.
To first find the Avian Marsh and Avian Dwelling shrines, you’ll need to split off from the main path to Hillswatchand turn right into a hidden mine shaft blocked by two destructible wagons. Make your way through Battlefield Pass, and you’ll end up at the Refugee Camp.

But before you reach the camp, you’ll find the White-Robed Elder standing near a bridge, whom you might remember napping on the second floor of the Shu Sanctum.
He’ll tell you about his quest to slay a beast that creates illusions. Should you agree to help him, he’ll meet you in the woods.Head down the ladder right next to him and make your way through.

Thankfully, this area is quite linear,so you’ll eventually find both shrines and wind up at the boss if you explore this area.
Preparations For Bo Sorcerer
Disclaimer: The above screenshot was taken during an NG++ run, but replicates the build I had while on my first run.
As a midgame optional boss, Bo Sorcerer requires a little bit of preparation to make the fight a little more tolerable. Since you can call upon an ally during this boss fight, you’ll need to progress the White-Robed Elder’s questline to make him available as a summon. Here’s what I had when I beat the Bo Sorcerer:

Lashing Whip
Palace Maid’s Hairpin
Palace Maid’s Satin Dress
Palace Maid’s Bracelet
Night Spectre - Shin Wraps
Jade Pendants
Gourd Pendant
Eagle Pendant
Tiger Pendant
Vorpal Blade
Echo of Dhutanga
Infernal Flames
Echo of Lu Bingzhang
Manna Vase
Temperance
Crimson Lantern Fruit
Bone Whistle
Temperance Needle
Notable Impetus Repository Perks
Sword Saint, Sword Counter (Variant I and II),Windforce
Because Bo Sorcerer primarily uses magic in this fight, it’s safe to assume thatshe might be resistant to spells,so I opted tomaximize my physical attack as much as I could, using only the Lashing Whip as my weapon, as it makes the best use of both Strength and Agility attributes.
With that said, the only spell that matters in this fight is Ethereal Form, which you can acquire midgame at Zhenwu Temple. While it’s not crucial to this build, it can help make your playthrough much easier, asit can serve as a reliable panic button should you get overwhelmed by an enemy’s relentless assault.
Ethereal Form costs only oneSkyborn Mightto cast and is perhaps one of the most powerful spells in the game. As long as you have one stack of Skyborn Might, this ability can make you briefly invincible by automatically evading any incoming attack for three seconds, all the whilerefunding a stack of Skyborn Might for every attack evaded in that duration.
There have been multiple instances where I have received a full stack of Skyborn Might after dodging a boss’s full combo.
The Palace Maid’s outfit set has a respectable Feathering and Magic resistance stat.On the plus side, it makes your character look quite dainty while fending off the Bo Sorcerer’s onslaught.
However, if you feel like you’re falling victim to her blade attacks more often, then consider putting on an armor set like a more physical piece of armor, like theMing armor set that you can get from heavily armored imperial soldiers.
Because it’s midgame, you might not haveall the Pendants you need, sofind whatever best supplements your stamina, damage reduction, and attack damage.I used Gourd for its damage reduction, Eagle to enhance the stab attack of my longsword’s combo, and Tiger for physical damage.
To maximize your damage output, useany elemental bone needle.I used Flame, but Lightning seems to also do the trick. Lantern Fruits–whether Crimson or normal–help make sure that you don’t run out of stamina in those intense moments while executing combos.
As forBenedictions, stick to anything that you feel the most comfortable with, as they’re not entirely game-changing to the fight.
Sword Saint and Windforce are yourmost important perks,as they can help you quickly regain Skyborn Stacks and stun the boss. We’ll discuss this strategy in a section later in this guide.
Bo Sorcerer Moveset
First Phase
The Bo Sorcerer is a highly mobile bosswith fluid blade attacks, a wide variety of spells, and a powerful divebomb attack that can easily knock down half your health bar.
Before you enter, make sure to use your buffing consumables and temperance before you enter the arena.
When the battle begins, the Bo Sorcerer can initiate the fight in one of two ways:a single swiping attack while planting a ring of circles on the ground that detonate after a delay, or leaping into the air to perform four light projectiles before unleashing a powerful and fast divebomb attack.
Many of her melee attacks sweep in a wide circle around her, so don’t get too cocky and let your guard down when you’re behind or beside her.
Occasionally, the Bo Sorcerer will stand still, and water and a faint pillar of light will briefly gather around her position. This means that she’s about to summon homing water bubbles, which can be dodged despite them being difficult to see. These bubbles have decent tracking, so it’s best to dodgeforwardso that you may cover more ground to damage her.
Do keep in mind that she can also shoot another bubble after the first, and these bubbles can take out a quarter of your health bar if you’re not careful.
She’ll also telegraph a drilling attack, charging with considerable range before ending it with a wide swipe around her, so try not to stay too close when she does that. This attack can be repeated three times.
She also has another basic three-hit combo, which is usually preceded by either an audio cue, “I shall cleanse all!” or a damaging backflip, or both at the same time.
Her most powerful single attack during the entire fight is her dive kick, where she jumps back in the air and cocks her legs before slamming into the ground. This attack can either be silent or cued with a “Star forged!”
Watch out for this attack, as it can easily halve your health bar or more if you don’t time your dodges right.
Thankfully, the pathing of the dive kick attack is a little wonky, so as long as you’re somewhere directly underneath her when she’s in the air, she can overshoot and land someplace else. However, this might be a detriment to the strategy that we will be discussing soon.
Second Phase
Once you’ve whittled down her health to 50%,she’ll stand still and begin summoning six water tornadoes after a long windup.
Much of her basic moveset should remain the same, but her second phase introduces two new attack patterns that may slightly complicate the fight.
First, she can chain much longer sword combos, and can even shoot projectiles from her sword swipes. You can tell she’s about to fire off a projectile by the way her sword is glowing.
Her second new attack has the same windup as the water tornadoes, but instead, she’ll summon icicles in the air that fire off in a barrage. This attack is easy to dodge; the only thing you need to do is run in a single direction before they hit you.
How To Beat Bo Sorcerer
Her attack patterns, while powerful, are fairly easy to read. More importantly, she can be parried, though that’s not encouraged, asshe won’t be thrown off balance like human enemies,so don’t expect her to reel back from your sword deflect like your duel with Commander Honglan.
Maintain a middling distance between you and the Bo Sorcerer, which will allow her to begin a combo without hitting you, all the while making sure you’re not constantly on the back foot.
This boss’s biggest weakness is her slow recovery from many of her powerful attacks, and we can exploit this by consistently attacking her back to leave her open for Obliterate attacks.
This is where the perks Sword Saint and Windforce come in.You can easily gain a stack of Skyborn Might by landing a hit on your second attack on your basic longsword combo.
With at least one stack of Skyborn Might, you’re able to execute a much faster, fully charged version of the heavy attack.
With this in mind, we’ll be executing a Windforce-charged heavy attack whenever her back is turned towards you.Pay attention to the range of your sword so you don’t waste your Skyborn Might stackwhen she’s a few feet too far from you.
While most of her attacks leave her vulnerable to backstabs, some moves have a much slower recovery time than the rest.
Don’t get too greedy; get about two to three hits in and then back off.
Her divebomb kicks leave her incredibly open to backstabs, because she’ll land right next to you if you dodge at the right time. Again, if you don’t want her to overshoot her kick, don’t get too close when she’s in the air.
When she’s shooting her bubbles, dodge forward so that you’ll be behind herthe moment she finishes firing her second bubble, allowing you to stun her with another backstab.
For the first phase, try learning her attack patterns, because once you get that down,it’s only a matter of timing and positioning yourself right behind her to land devastating Obliterate attacks.
If you really need to take a break from her constant attacks, there’s a giant tree in the arena that you’re able to hide behind, which will throw off her targeting as long as it stands between you two.Use this opportunity for your consumables, to get a breather, or summon your ally.
When she’s transitioning phases, start summoning the White-Robed Elder and setting up your real damage output, including consumables and tempering.
While he’s in play, the White-Robed Elder will take most of her aggro from you. His thick health bar and ability to use flasks let him take a lot of the punishment that would’ve ended you easily, andhe can even knock her down for a couple of seconds with his spear thrusts.
The only minor downside to having the White-Robed Elder on the field is thatyou’re trading the controlled nature of a 1v1 for unpredictable targeting,as the Bo Sorcerer can shift between attacking you and your ally when you least expect it.
But while the boss is busy fighting the White-Robed Elder, use this precious time to get behind her and backstab for the most damage the moment she gets back up.
Once you vanquish the Bo Sorcerer, you’ll receive the following rewards:
