Wolcen Studio, the developer behind action-RPG Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem, has announced its latest project. Codenamed “Project Pantheon,” it’s what the studio calls the first of its kind, an extraction-RPG that offers a blend of hack-‘n’-slash action set in a dark fantasy world.
Alongside the announcement, we also got the first of three teasers and the announcement of a closed alpha test.

Project Pantheon Is The Latest Game From Wolcen
Project Pantheon is a free-to-play live service game that Wolcen states, “will take players on a journey into a strange afterlife, where they are tasked by Death itself to aid in restoring order to a shattered reality.”
Players can explore diverse maps, battle enemies in dynamic PvPvE combat. Given this is an extraction-RPG, players can expect the mechanic to play a major role in the game. Successful extractions will see players haul valuable loot, while failure may result in losing their gear for good. There’s also a hidden fortress, which players will be able to upgrade, customize their loadouts, and experiment with gear.

Wolcen also confirmed that Project Pantheon will feature an open market with a “player-driven economy” that will allow players to trade with each other.

Project Pantheon First Closed Alpha Test Details
The test will be on January 25-26, 2025, for EU players and February 1-2, 2025, for North American players. Wolcen states, “Closed Alpha 1 serves as a primarily technical evaluation, focused on validating the stability and performance of Project Pantheon’s backend systems, server infrastructure and community channels. This phase is critical for ensuring a smooth reliable experience throughout Alpha testing and will heavily depend on player feedback to fix any issues.”
The studio said they will announce dates for additional closed alpha tests in further territories in the coming weeks.
