The problems were first identified during the update’s preview period earlier this year, and it is unclear what motivated either Microsoft to move forward with its rollout or Ubisoft not todeploy a patchahead of the update’s public release.

After it became clear that the problem was systemic,Microsoft acknowledged the issue and put update 24H2 on a compatibility hold.
This means that computers that have these games installed will not receive the update until Microsoft or Ubisoft find a lasting solution to the game freezes.

While this is welcome news for existing owners, it does little to protect users who buy or install the game after the update has been deployed.
