Fortnite’s playerbase has been quite frustrated with the way things are going on recently – especially with regards to cheaters. Cheating is of major concern in the popular battle royale game – with many incidents being reported daily.

Epic Games’ anti-cheat solution has been quite inadequate in keeping such hacks out of the game, which when compared to equally popular multiplayer titles such asValorantjust makes things appear all the more tragic.

Players frustrated as Fortnite fails to keep cheaters in check

Epic Games’ efforts at keeping hackers in check has beenawfully inadequate as of late, with multiple posts cropping up on the r/FortNiteBR subreddit complaining on the matter. One such post demonstrates how a cheater managed to ruin multiple games for everybody, with the author commenting rather angrily:

Fortnite Anticheats Sucks!

This is justone of the many postsyou can find on the subreddit though. While Epic Games has often taken action against these hacks, opting to suspend or even ban these accounts, the problem is still quite rampant.

The anti-cheat is just not good enough, and can be easily bypassed by capable individuals selling programs (which can enable these cheats) toany player who finds it amusing enough. Epic has previously threatened to take legal action against these individuals, ultimately choosing to deal with them in a rather curious manner.

If anyone is tagged as playing along with a cheater, they can be flagged to face a 28-day competitive ban. Unfortunately, this ban should have also been extended into casual matches as well, and should have offered much harsher penalties instead of a simple temporary ban.

Additionally, pinning the blame on the entire team sounds like a poor way of dealing with the problem, and will only make players a lot more frustrated with the whole ordeal.

Valorant’s solution is a lot more effective but awfully invasive

In stark contrast, Riot Games’Valorantanti-cheat, Vanguard, is a lot more extensive, smarter and often times controversial. Riot Games is known for handing out bans in their games with great precision, managing to pinpoint cheaters and lock them out of matches instantly.

Additionally, Vanguard can also cancel a match if it detects a cheater on the team – which sounds a lot more sensible. Vanguard’s effectiveness has extended into multiple other live-service games as well, whileFortnitetrails far behind.

It’s not all roses though –Valorantdoes still have its fair share of cheaters (after all, fending off against hacks is a cat and mouse game) and theinvasive nature of its anti-cheatdoes leave quite a few questions unanswered.
