The conversation around Marvel’s mutants has been growing more and more persistent as they are making their way into the franchise. As a new chapter opens for the beloved aspect of the comics, people have begun to discuss what actors could play which characters. Most recently, Cynthia Erivo put her name in the mix, revealing that she wants to play Storm.

While this could certainly be an interesting choice on Marvel’s part, more than a few fans are not on board with the idea. With this, new names have been brought into the conversation, and oneStar Warsactress from a failed series could be well deserving of the title.

Cynthia Erivo wants to play Storm but is she the right person?

Cynthia Erivorecently gave an interview withNBR, where she was asked what role she was eyeing now that she had played Elphaba inWicked.Interestingly enough, she stated that she wanted to play the role of Storm in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The mutant is a very important part of the X-Men and has the power to manipulate the weather and atmosphere.

I really want to play Storm.

The actress took a very interesting path when she explained why she wanted to play the character, claiming that she wanted to help the world see her full potential. While there is no denying that the actress does look very close to the fans’ vision of the mutant, her belief is that she was not shown to her full capabilities as a character.

I know it sounds frivolous, but I think we haven’t uncovered how grand she is and all of that inner turmoil that she has. So I think there’s a world in which we could do something with that.

Regardless, many fans have reacted to her wanting to play the character, and not many have been positive. Many characteristics make Storm that go far beyond her physical appearance. With her essence being much different than that of Erivo, many believe that other actors are better suited for the role.

With this, a conversation started onXsurrounding actresses who would be best suited for the task, and one name seems to stand out more than the others.

The oneStar Warsactress who would steal the thunder of anyone else

Jodie Turner-Smithcertainly did not have a very good experience the last time she was in a franchise. Having starred inStar Wars’most controversial and poorly performing project to date,The Acolyte, one can imagine that she does not hold that experience very close to her.

However, there still may be a chance for her to prove her worth to Disney and become one of the most important mutants in the X-Men. While the 2024 series was a very poor example of her skills, she has starred in several notable roles outside of it, ranging from starring inThe Agencyto playing Anne Boleyn.

She has too.. we need to revIve her from the Acolyte curse.

Yeah that’s StormJust make her dreads silver and it’s complete

This is my pick as well but i have a strong feeling Disney would want to stay as far away as possible from her after the whole acolyte debacle. Another strong choice is Dewanda Wise

Yes she’d be great. Not a fan of the one from Wicked playing Storm

Considering this, many have been bringing her up when discussing actresses who could play Storm in the MCU. Some beg for her to be cast and for Disney to bring her out of theStar Warsseries’ failure. While there are many conflicting opinions and several actresses are being considered among fans, Turner-Smith seems to be quite a strong contender.
