The series recently returned with its second installment, which sees Centineo’s character falling deeper into the complicated world of espionage.

During an interview, Centineo talked about preparing to play a CIA lawyer. The actor revealed that his preparation included conversations with real-life CIA employees. However, the employees were extremely secretive and responded to most of his questions in an old-fashioned way. Here is what Centineo had to say about meeting real CIA employees.

During an interview withVanity Fair, Centineo talked about meeting real CIA employees to prepare for the series, which is loosely based on the experiences of former CIA lawyer Adam Ciralsky, who arranged the meeting.

Centineo made the above statement, revealing the common response he got from most of the employees.

The actor added that it was his favorite response, recalling that he heard the comment almost three times during his interactions. Furthermore, creator Alexi Hawley added that the CIA employees also often admitted they weren’t prepared to speak about the subjects they were pressed on, which he felt was fitting for the nature of their job.

The series proved popular with audiences and Netflix renewed it for a second installment, which also received positive reviews. The second season recently hit the streaming service, albeit with the caveat of a reduced episode count.
The sophomore outing following Centineo’s Owen Hendricks has only six episodes, two less than the first installment. In an interview withDeadline, Hawley was asked why the second installment had a smaller episode count and whether the creative team had to condense some of the plot points.

Season 2 is the story I was always planning to tell, just streamlined down to its most propulsive version.
Hawley made the above comment, explaining that while the story did not change because of the episode count, it allowed him to craft the best version for season 2.

The showrunner admitted that the story was originally conceived to be told over eight episodes. However, Netflix later ordered only six episodes, which forced the writer’s room to tell a more condensed version, allowing the makers to stick to the core of the conflict. At the same time, Hawley expressed that he was positive about the show’s chances of getting renewed for a third outing.
The Recruitseason 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
