GTA 6is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated titles of this generation. When the first trailer for the title came out, the release window was only confirmed to be somewhere in 2025, and nothing else was known.
Now, Take Two Interactive’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, has finally narrowed down the video game’s release date and confirmed that the game is expected to release in the fall of 2025. While the CEO was confident in the studio’s ability to deliver, fans are still skeptical.

But to their relief, Strauss Zelnick officially confirmed the game’s release window in a recent interview.

While Rockstar Games is famous for the quality of video games it develops, it is also infamous for delaying them multiple times. For example, titles likeRed Dead Redemptionwere postponed twice because the studio didn’t want to create an unfinished product. It was a similar case for theGTA 5release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, which was delayed by four months.
What Fans Think of the Updated GTA 6 Release Window
When the stakes are high, video game companies usually refrain from narrowing down release windows because there can be unexpected delays with a project that costs millions, if not billions. And given Rockstar Games’ reputation, one can argue that something like this is bound to happen this time, too.

Some individuals were almost certain that the game would be delayed and that even fall 2025 is too early for Rockstar’s standards, and they wrote so hilariously:
Rockstar going a year and a half without a delay? Yeah sure, and pigs can fly. Obviously would be more than glad to be proven wrong by them, but for now I’m assuming GTA 6 is a 2026 game.
And that wasn’t all; it looked like some fans even wanted Rockstar to delay the release of the game and for the studio to release it in 2026:
