A new week is upon us, which means it’s almost time for a new episode of Vinland Saga. As confirmed in the small synopsis provided by the anime’s official website, the upcoming episode is titled “King and Sword,” and it will see Ketil, Thorgil, and Ormal visiting Jelling, the same place where Canute is currently residing. Leif Ericson will be seen searching for Thorfinn, and Canute, on the other hand, will select Ketil’s farm as a point for discussing strategies.

Last time on Vinland Saga…

Thorfinn and Einar managed to clear the forest and turn it into a land fit for farming. Thorfinn wondered what Einer would do once he was a free man, and the latter replied that he had no plans as no one was awaiting him. Thorfinn asks Einar if he believes it would be possible to get rid of the world of war and slavery. Einer replied that it was like a dream.

Ketil showed up and looked impressed by their work. He stated that they would finally be free after sowing the seeds in the land; however, they had to wait for his return from Jelling, where he was going to meet King Harald. Before leaving, Ketil offered them the jobs as retainers and asked them to think about it before he returned.

Meanwhile, Canute visited his sick brother Harald and remembered some good times with him and how his brother used to help him. Canute went to his brother’s room, and Harald stated that he, Canute, was now the ruler of Denmark. Suddenly, Canute saw Sweyn, who accused him of being the one who poisoned Harald, despite the latter being so kind. Sweyn claimed that he would suffer even more by taking the crown of two kingdoms.

Later on, when a woman offered Canute a drink, and he denied it, Canute’s head appeared again, and he stated that he was afraid that someone would poison him as he did to his brother. Canute reasoned with his father that having two kings would have been troublesome. Canute laughed, recalling how he once hated his father, but now, the two of them were gossiping.
