The official Twitter account for Counter-Strike recently informed fans that the factor to get an invitation toCounter-Strike 2Limited Test is the playtime ofCounter-Strike: Global Offensivebefore the release of the Limited Test. This simply means even if you really start playing CS: GO now day and night, your chance to get invited to the new title will not be increased.Since the announcement of Counter-Strike 2, the number of CS: GO players has been increasing gradually as the game’s number of concurrent players hits new all-time highs. While not all of these players are there for getting an invitation, some players thought that they could outsmartValveby just launching CS: GO and idling in the menu or even in some game modes like Deathmatch to increase their playtime.

Counter-Strike 2 will officially release in the Summer of this year. Valve has already announced that it will invite more players to the Limited Test as we get closer to the launch, which means all you can do is just wait. The new title will be an improved version of the current CS: GO in multiple areas, including a new lighting system thanks to the Source 2 engine, new map reworks, and some new gameplay systems that could change the way things work. Valve is also preparing some server-side tweaks, as the developer announces a new sub-tick update to the servers that will make the experience feel much smoother.

Previously, there were rumors of 128-tick rate servers coming to Counter-Strike 2, but Valve ditched that idea by introducing an all-new system. So, it is yet to be seen how well this new sub-tick system could perform compared toValorant, which is the only competitive FPS at the moment to use 128-tick rate servers.

Unlike its predecessor, Counter-Strike 2 will only launch on PC. It is yet to be seen how well the transition from CS: GO to CS 2 will proceed, but the game does seem to have a solid foundation, as some esports organizers have already scheduled tournaments based on Counter-Strike 2 for 2024.
