Call of Duty: WarzoneSeason 1 brought plenty of new content to the game including new weapons, multiplayer maps, several modes, and more. The game has a history of shifting weapon balance once an update is released and the same happened when Raven Software released the recent update that saw MTZ Interceptor being broken and overpowered.

MTZ Interceptor is currently the best gun in the game and players have been wreaking havoc in Urzikstan. The developer has now confirmed that a weapon balance update is coming next week and the gun will be getting nerfed with the update.
MTZ Interceptor Will Be Nerfed in Call of Duty: Warzone Next Week
The MTZ Interceptor is a semi-automatic gun that debuted inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3and is currently the most broken and best weapon inWarzone. The game can be found in the Marksman Rifle category and as with any overpowered weapon, it has become the favorite for players, and ones using it have been enjoying dishing out plenty of damage to enemies.
However, those not using it have found themselves at a disadvantage and have been asking the developer to nerf the Marksman Rifle and it has now finally addressed the issue. Raven Software took toX/Twitterand stated that it has seen players’ questions about weapon balance and confirmed that an update is coming mid-next week with changes to the MTZ Interceptor.

Raven Software released a weapon balancing patch update on August 14, 2025, which nerfed several weapons including MTZ Interceptor but it was still overpowered and unbalanced and players have dominated the battle royale with it. The balance update only brought down Headshot Multiplier to 1.5 from 2 but didn’t nerf damage value much.
The gun currently has high damage, low recoil and pinpoint accuracy, allowing players to downing fully plated enemies with a few shots. Before the December 14 update, MTZ Interceptor did 190 damage to the head and neck and players were easily able to down enemies in two shots.

The update reduced the head and neck damage to 142 and players are still capable of downing enemies with three shots. If combined with the best attachments, the rifle is capable of getting players through squads. Many got sick of this and called for nerf.
MTZ Interceptor is currently the best weapon to use for both long and short-range inCall of Duty Warzoneand players are happy with the developer bringing a nerf. Raven Software did not reveal which other weapons will be getting balance changes but players mentioned that WSP Swarm, Bruen Mk9 LMGs, and Pulemyot 762 should also be nerfed.

A player also asked to bring snipers back to where they were inCall of Duty Warzone 1, and a few other things. Although most of the players are making the best use of MTZ Interceptor inCall of Duty Warzonebefore it gets nerfed, those left can equip the below attachments to stay ahead of the curve.
Players can use VT-7 Spiritfire Suppressor L muzzle to silence the weapon, MTZ Blackthorn barrel and MCW Blackjack stock for better accuracy, Corio Eagleseye 2.5x medium to long-range optic, and 20 Round mag to reduce reloads. This loadout will help maximize the range and minimize recoil for better damage output.
