Arnold Schwarzenegger, with multiple Mr. Olympia wins, has proven time and again that he’s one of the most successful men to have dipped his toes in the industry.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s bodybuilding days

Of course, others have taken his place since his retirement in 1980 but no one has been able to beat his one record that continues to impress us even today. So, bodybuilders like Chris Bumstead may have fans who believe that he could’ve defeated Arnie back in the day, but even he probably cannot help but be impressed by his record.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Impressive Bodybuilding Record

The first timeArnold Schwarzeneggercompeted for the Mr. Olympia title was in 1969. Despite coming a long way, he lost to Sergio Oliva and had to settle for the silver medal.

However, he returned next year and that’s where his reign began. Schwarzenegger won back-to-back titles from 1970 to 1975, beating the competition left and right.

Chris Bumstead Believes He Could Beat Arnold Schwarzeneggerat his Prime

There is no doubt that Schwarzenegger was a beast in his days but the question is, how well can he fare against some of the toughest competitors of today, say CBum for example?

The fantasy matchup is something fans of the sport have dreamed about for a long time. Both bodybuilders have destroyed competition in their respective generations. If they were to face off today, both in their prime, do you think Schwarzenegger would have defeated CBum? Well, the latter doesn’t think so at all.

During his appearance onThe Full Send Podcast, the 6’1” tall and 240-pound weighing bodybuilder talked about the fantasy pairing. He believes that if he were to travel back in time and compete against Schwarzenegger in the 70s, there is a good chance Arnie would have defeated him.

However, that’s only because of the difference between expectations back then and now.

If I went back [to Arnold’s time] looking how I look, I’d be the leanest person they’ve ever seen. So I don’t even know if [the judges] would even want that. So maybe he would win because of that.

On the other hand, if it was the 70s Schwarzenegger competing against CBum today, he believes that he’d definitely be the winner of the match.

If he were to come today and compete against me last year at the Olympia, I think I would beat him because he’s not in shape enough.

CBum won his first Mr. Olympia Classic Physique title in 2019 and thus began his winning streak. He went on to win in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, after which he announced his retirement from the Classic Physique division.
