Killing Mandrin will give you an extra15 Divine Shardswhereas letting him go will allow you to potentially recruit him later on in the story, especially if youchose to let Gammel go freeas well.Sharon, the Cleric, will join your party either wayso you won’t face any immediate repercussions but there is a chance that this decision might come to bite you later on in the story.
The only reason to execute Mandrin is to get your hands on the Divine Shards. We’d advise against this course of action simply becauseDivine Shards are not all that uncommonand can be obtained relatively easily in the game.
The main use of Divine Shards is to use them as currency at theDivine Shard Shopoperated by Ochlys directly after this mission.Gathering 30 Divine Shards is also the main requirement forrecruiting Ochlysto the Liberation and using her as a unit you may deploy in battle.
Ochlys is a highly desirable unit to have because of herinnate flying capabilitieslike the Gryphon Knight, which might make you reconsider whether or not getting her early by executing Mandrin is worth it.
You can recruit Ochlys whether or not you execute Mandrin. Ochlys will be unhappy if you don’t let her kill him but she will still be open to join your party.
