Sega held the November edition of its monthly SegaNama stream today. The stream, as usual, featured Sega’s Chief Creative Officer Toshihiro Nagoshi and coolest MC everAyana Tsubaki. During theYakuzacorner of the stream, Nagoshi most notably revealed new information onYakuza: Like a Dragon, confirming that Goro Majima will make an appearance in the game.
Nagoshi also mentioned that Daigo Dojima and Taiga Saejima will be appearing inYakuza: Like a Dragontoo. He explained that the game’s story eventually touches what’s going on with the Tojo clan and Kabukicho at the time, and how that’s something they’d obviously do in the story. He also teased that other characters who appeared in multiple past games are coming back too.
Toshihiro Nagoshi didn’t say in what form these characters will return, but it’ll probably be more than just a cameo. Regardless of what happened inYakuza 6, it’s not surprising past characters including Kiryu will be appearing inYakuza: Like a Dragon. Japanese games always do that. And Goro Majima is a fan favorite so it was obvious he’d be inYakuza: Like a Dragon.
I personally don’t believe these reveals are actual spoilers, as that’s just how Japanese games' promotions work. Anything they show before release might seem huge, but when the game’s actually out, you usually realize when playing it there’s way more to discover, and they purposefully kept hidden all the most important details and parts.
Nagoshi also spoke about how theLike a Dragonsound development team included many chiptune-like sounds in the game, in accordance with the whole old JRPG andDragon Questfeel.
Yakuza: Like a Dragonlaunches on January 16 in Japan and later in 2020 in the west, exclusively on PS4.
