Dragon Ball Superwent on a hiatus after episode 131. The Tournament of Power had everyone excited: The strongest warriors from all the universes would line up to face each other in a battle royal. Apart from the Z warriors, the only one who caught the attention of countless people was Jiren of Universe 11. He was the strongest individual during the tournament.
Jiren rarely spoke and did not waste time-fighting fighters who were weaker than him. He considered Frieza andAndroid 17useless, yet they assisted Goku in defeating Jiren. Watching the Saiyan grow in strength with others around him, made him question his solitude.
Dragon Ball Superepisode 131 director, Megumi Ishitani said,
Jiren was influenced by his past to have faith that “solitude is strength”. His own strength had proved the validity of this faith. However, in episode 130 that validity was shattered. Jiren lost to Goku, someone who had grown strong through his numerous allies. This caused Jiren to lose his faith that “solitude is strength”. Even worse, afterwards Goku lost the fight by self-imploding. So Jiren lost his opportunity to fight Goku and was stuck fighting Freeza and 17 instead, while still harboring emotional loss. As a result, the battle at the start of episode 131 was extraordinarily tough for Jiren.
Jiren was starting to lose his footing since his source of power was crushed. Goku has always depended upon his friends and family when it comes to winning battles. Goku losing would ensure the destruction of Universe 7, so Goku would not let that happen. Moreover, his master, rival, son, wife, friends, etc., were all cheering for him. In a state of desperation,Friezaand he took out Jiren along with them, and Android 17 won the Tournament of Power.
Toyotarou ConfirmsDragon Ball SuperWill Return Soon
Dragon Ball Supersaw Akira Toriyama’s return as a manga artist after announcing his retirement. The anime became immensely popular and brought back countless nostalgic moments for the fans. It introduced gods and angels, with the Tournament of Power expanding the roster to other universes. Unfortunately, the anime went on a hiatus, and after the mangaka’s death, the manga also traversed in the same direction.
