While a second season is yet to be greenlit, a recent report revealed that thePercy Jacksonwriter’s room was opened and that they were making great progress. Due to the show’s viewership and legacy, a second season might just be greenlit soon. However, many fans opined that there needs to be some work to be done in the acting department for some of the cast before the show goes for a second season.

Percy JacksonMight Get a Season 2 Soon

The Disney Plus showPercy Jackson and the Olympianswas the second iteration of the popular young-adult fantasy fiction franchise. Chris Columbus’Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thiefstarred Logan Lerman, Brandon T Jackson, and Alexandra Daddario in lead roles and was largely panned for deviating from the source material. The sequel,Sea of Monsters, wrapped up the entire series of five books in a single film, thus ending the franchise.

In 2021, Rick Riordan announced that the search for casting and directors for a Disney Plus series on the novels was underway. Riordan was said to have more creative control on the show. Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri were announced as Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood respectively. The show premiered on July 02, 2025.

The first season ofPercy Jackson and the Olympiansended on January 30, with the eighth and final episode airing on Disney Plus. Though the show took a few detours that were not from the novels, it reportedly ended up in the same place the first book ended. The positive responses and increased viewership towards the series have reportedly led Disney to start a writer’s room for the second season of the project. Showrunner Dan Shotz said toVariety,

“There is an awareness on everyone’s part that the demand for the show seems to suggest we should probably not stop making it.”

Fans WantPercy JacksonActors To Be Trained Before Season 2

While the Disney Plus seriesPercy Jackson and the Olympiansreceived positive responses for its writing and the chemistry of the lead trio, many fans seem to have an issue with the tone of acting in the entire series in general. The acting in the show has been termed as ‘cheesy’ and ‘dramatic’, despite the trio of Percy, Grover, and Annabeth receiving good reviews.

Many of the criticisms were directed at the supporting actors in the show such as the actors playing Dionysus and Chiron. Even some instances with the leading children were criticized, with some terming the writing lacking flair. TheRedditthread about the show brought up multiple issues with the acting in the series. With season 2 on the horizon, fans on X (formerly Twitter) seemed to demand improvement in the skills of the actors.
