The summer gaming event season is upon us once more, but you may have noticed that one major publisher has been unusually quiet.

Ubisoft has been hosting its own summer reveal events, called Ubisoft Forward, every year since the downfall of E3 in 2020, but it seems like they’re going to be passing on it this year.

The news comes from the publisher itself via Game File’s Stephen Totilo onBluesky, who was told that even though they will not be hosting their own event,Ubisoft will be participating in IGN Live from June 7-8 and the PC Gaming Show on June 8, as well as Gamescom in August.

“We are always eager to connect with our players and showcase our games,” a Ubisoft rep told Totilo. “We are continuing to explore opportunities to share updates, and we look forward to providing more information at a later date.”

What Does This Mean For Ubisoft?

Ubisoft’s upcoming lineup is pretty sparse, so it’s not that surprising that they’re skipping hosting their own event this summer and instead just doingwhatever reveals they have waiting in the wingsduring other events.

It also makes sense consideringtheir financial difficultiesandrecent corporate restructuring, even after theincredible success of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Ubisoft also recently announced thatseveral upcoming games have been delayedto allow for more development time after the critical success ofAssassin’s Creed Shadows, so that could be related to this decision as well.

Underrated Ubisoft Shooter Will Be Gone Completely In 48 Hours

This game attracted millions of players when it launched.

It’s a clear and deliberate choice to stay out of the spotlight, but if Ubisoft doesn’t have that much to reveal, this way is definitely better for viewers than an entire livestream dedicated to just a few games, or showing off a bunch of titlesearly in development without release windows.

Even so, it’s not like we don’t have enough events in the next few days to follow, withtoday’s State of Play, Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest on Friday, and a lot more events to watch over the weekend and next week, so there will be no shortage of reveals to keep track of.
