Wes Ball’sKingdom of the Planet of the Apesis here, and wreaking havoc on theatres. The movie has been receiving amazing responses from audiences and critics alike, and talks of continuing this story are already in the air. According to sources, the story is supposedly going to continue for five more movies. But for now, let’s talk about the one that’s already out.

Owen Teague plays the role of Noa in Kingdom of the planet of the apes

The movie’s story happens a few hundred years after Ceasar’s story comes to an end. It follows Noa, a young ape, played by Owen Teague, who sets on a journey after his clan gets attacked. The Chimpanzee hunter, on his way, meets Mae, a young human girl, played by Freya Allen. The movie has a gripping story, which is also the longest in the franchise. And now, chatter is, we might get a longer cut, if the director so pleases.

Wes Ball SaysKingdom of the Planet of the ApesHad to be Cut Short

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apesis currently doing an amazing job in the theatres. It retains the magic from its predecessors but brings in new characters that have their own story to tell. While we see a lot of touches fromAndy Serkis‘s Ceasar, Noa is his own person and has his own journey to make. But that journey is long and arduous, and it wasn’t possible for them to include each and every instance of the story in frames. Speaking toSlash Film, Ball said:

“There’s more that we actually had to cut out for time, but maybe we’ll get in there for another version of the movie or something.”

So there’s quite a lot that was left on the cutting floor of the editor’s room. And if the stars align, we might just get a director’s cut for the movie. Or, it might become the next story in the franchise, as thechances of the movie getting a sequel are pretty high.

Wes Ball On Owen Teague and Noa

Wes Ball castOwen Teagueon instinct. He was the first or second tape he said, and the director said that he just knew he was the perfect fit. Although he watched a few other tapes, he kept coming back to Teague’s and soon enough he had his Noa.

“I tend to cast on instinct. I don’t overthink it too much, and I don’t know, I just, ‘That’s him. That’s him.’ And it was just immediate. You know what I mean? He was like the second tape that I saw, the first or second tape that I saw.”

“It was some kind of miracle”: Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Might Not Have Worked if Director Wes Ball Hadn’t Found Andy Serkis’ Spiritual Successor

When talking about Noa’s character in the movie, the director spoke of his youth and innocence, which brings some light-hearted humor to the story.

“It’s a young character this time. He’s very innocent, and that’s probably where the humor comes from, is that innocence.”

Proximus Caesar in rage

The movie is a coming-of-age story for the young ape that the director and his crew brought to life amazingly, with beautiful sets and mesmerizing characters.
