The original trilogy resonated with the viewers over its stories, characters, and the unique visual effects featured in the film, but theprequel was more politically influencedandafter creatingEpisode III- Revenge of the Sith,he felt that he should put an end to his galaxy far, far away.
Although one would thinkit was the audience reception thatforced Lucas to endthatwas not the case as he opened up about his decision to MTV.

“Anakin will have a much bigger role in season two”: Hayden Christensen’s Rumored Return is What All Star Wars Fans Want After Big Ahsoka Moment
During an exclusive interview withMTVin 2004, the creator opened up about howa lot ofthought and pondering went behind telling the prequel story because he was conflicted about telling thebackstory of the characters. He said,
The original‘Star Wars‘was only three films, and thatwas what itwas meantto be. Aftera lot ofpondering and thought, I went back to do the back story, but that pretty much tells the story. Episode VI is the end. Thereisn’tany more to it.

However, he did mention thatEpisode III- Revenge of the Sithwould end on an emotional level because“All the good guys die,“andunlike the other films that ended on a high and positive note, it would get quite dark and“pretty intense.”
And you know,it’spretty dark. It’spretty intense.I’mnot sure this oneis going toend up a PG like the others were.

WhileEpisode IIImight not be a fan-favorite film, the emotional turmoil and AnakinSkywalker’sfall from grace to The Dark Side made the story much more complexandthefilm’stragedy makes it a pretty solid watch.
Hayden Christensen Submitted To The Dark Side For One Scene inRevenge of the Sith
HaydenChristensen’sportrayal ofAnakin Skywalkerhas forever made him synonymous with the role. The actor beautifully showcased the emotional complexity and his gradual descent to the Dark Side and became a puppet of Emperor Palpatine. However, his high stature did not come easy as he had to embody some ugly emotions and do some unsettling things that would give a glimpse of what Darth Vader used to be.
Among the list of unfortunate things, he had to terrify the younglings at the Jedi Temple, where he slaughtered every single one of them. While talking toEmpire, Hayden Christensen spoke on how the scene was a bold move from the creator because it led toa lot ofconversation. He said,
There was a lot of talk about us doing that scene, and I love that George did it. It was a bold move. Andit’sshocking.
Despite the scene sounding bold onpaperitwasquitedifficultto get the authentic reaction from the child actors present on the set.Thiscomes as a no-shocker thatbeing petrifiedat that young age would be a massive challenge. To get the perfect shot,Christensencame up witha sinister idea that did the trick.
“I can see why Obi-Wan cut off Anakin’s limbs”: Hayden Christensen Falls Way Too Many Times While Natalie Portman Struggles to Control Her Laughter in Star Wars Blooper
When we were filming that, we were having a hard time getting the reaction that we wanted from the kid. And so I shouted, or growled at him, because we needed a genuine moment of him being startled.
Kids seem to forget about that scene when they meet me!There’snot any fear or intimidation. They’rejust excited to meet Anakin. He went on,“I saw him years later. I said,“Sorry about how that went.”
Even though Christensen horrified the kid to get the perfect reaction from the kid, deep down, he felt the guilt of yelling at the kid and traumatizing him when he was younger.
Star Wars Fans Should Not Give Up Hope on Seeing Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker Again
