Netflix’s The Witcherpresents a world where magic collides with might, one with monsters and their hunters: The Witchers. Where magic is not just a mythical concept but also a destructive power forged by skilled mages, some of whom control the elemental forces, some heal the wounded, while some compete over the hold of power.

While characters such as the beloved Bard Jaskier must survive through his melancholic songs alone, others maneuver through Chaos. With the ferocious nature of Yennefer, the wisdom of Tissaia, and the raw talent of Ciri, all these sorceresses have a power scale that remains consistent more or less. But which one of them is the strongest in the show?
In Season Two,Rience is introduced as a powerful and wicked magewith an inclination toward pyromancy. Imprisoned by Queen Calanthe for a decade, he let a flame build up inside him that has festered into a thirst for blood and chaos.

After the destruction of Cintra, Lydia van Bredevoort frees Reince to task him to track down Ciri on behalf of a mysterious master. Throughout the story, Rience’s true fealty remains veiled in secrecy. He demonstrates magical abilities several times in the show, even using fire magic to torture Jaskier. After the Thanedd coup, he tried to trap Ciri, which was a grave mistake that led to Geralt eventually killing him.
9Mousesack
Mousesack is one of the most powerful Druids in the entire Continent. His impressive powers are demonstrated during the Battle of Cintra, where Mousesack creates a shield around the Castle, holding it against hundreds of blazing arrows from the Nilfgaardian bows for hours.
While he may not be an expert in powerful spells like many other mages in the series, his connections to people across the Continent, specialization in nature’s magic, and insight into vital information make him a powerful character besides his magical inclinations.

8Triss Merigold
Contrary to books and the games, where Triss Merigold is an extremely powerful mage, the show portrays her as more vulnerable but certainly not weak. Triss is a skilled healer, which can be witnessed in Kaer Morhen when she healed a deep scar on Ciri’s cheek with nothing more than some Elder enchantments.

Apart from her abilities in healing, Triss possesses the gift of psychic connection, enabling her to perform Dol Durza, an intricate ritual, using which she establishes a mental link with Ciri, delving into her subconscious to reveal the true origins of her powers.
7Cirila Of Cintra
The Elder-Blooded, Princess Cirila of Cintra possesses mysterious abilities yet to be portrayed in Netflix’s Witcher. As in moments of distress, Ciri manifests untamed powers, causing deafening screams and occasional visions of the future.
During the Battle of Aretuza, in a desperate attempt to escape from Vilgefortz, Ciri taps into Tor Lara’s magic, making the tower erupt into dust and rubble, after which she also opens a portal to transport her to the Korath desert. However, she neither understands nor has any control over her powers so far.

6Stregobor
Stregobor, a sorcerer and a master illusionist, is notorious for mutilating and studying women afflicted with the Curse of the Black Sun. Frequently, Stregobor has clashed with Yennefer and the other mages of the Brotherhood due to his opinions over cursed creatures, as he was a staunch believer in their execution.
Stregobor’s most overt magic display is illustrated during Season One when he casts such a perfect illusion over his lair in Blaviken that it looks like an opulent castle. During the show, Stregobor rarely demonstrates his magical capabilities, but his position within the Brotherhood lends an image of his hold of power.

5Vilgefortz Of Roggeveen
Throughout the series, Vilgefortz is shown as a powerful mage and a shrewd politician. After the Battle of Sodden Hill, he teams up with Tissaia to rise to power over Aretuza by claiming all the credit for their victory.
Vilgefortz’s portrayal captures the essence of a mage with concealed motives, which becomes apparent during the Thanedd coup when it is revealed that Vilgefortz has been playing as a double agent by aligning himself with Emhyr’s interests. He shows his true potential during his battle against Geralt, in which, after a remarkable display of hand-to-hand combat, he easily beats the Witcher to a pulp, smashing his sword in two halves, and also breaking his back.

4Philippa Eilhart
Philippa Eilhart, lore-wise, is among the strongest sorceresses, but the show hasn’t revealed her scope as such. Her political cunningness is highlighted, though, like her transformation into an owl to eavesdrop. In Season 3, Philipa plots with the spymaster Dijkstra to marry off Ciri to King Vizimir to consolidate power over Cintra after already assassinating his first wife, Hedwig.
Later, to vanquish Vilgefortz, they take over the Brotherhood of Sorcerers. Phillipa binds Aretuza in such a powerful anti-magic spell that even the most powerful mages aren’t able to use magic. However, their plan ends up being a failure, and to save her neck, the shape-shifting mage assassinates Vizimir to crown his brother Radovid king.
3Fringilla Vigo
The show introduces Fringilla as an ambitious sorceress training at Aretuza, where trying to prove herself, she suffers a crippling injury to her hand, hence demonstrating the significance that balance has while practicing magic.

Later, Fringilla decides to join hands with Nilfgaard’s expansionist policies, where to seek power, she delves into forbidden depths of magic. In the Battle of Sodden Hill, Fringilla uses her telekinesis to control her own-created worms and demolishes the keeps of Northern Realm mages. Despite her involvement in major plots in the series, Fringilla shines with her unmatched power the most during a sequence where she effortlessly disables Tissaia.
2Tissaia De Vries
The Archmistress, Tissia de Vries, is an influential member of the Brotherhood of Sorcerers. As a Rectoress of Aretuza, she shoulders the responsibility of identifying young women with magical potential, then mentoring them to become powerful sorceresses.
One of Tissaia’s most impressive power displays in The Witcher transpires during the Thanedd coup when she realizes Aretuza will fall unless drastic actions are taken. She summons the destructive force of Alzur’s Thunder, which breaks the backbone of the Nilfgaardians and Scoia’taels. Tissaia’s character evolves during the series, revealing a multifaceted person who, amid political struggles, maintains a sense of control and wisdom only a few others possess.
1Yennefer Of Vengerberg
The One-Quarter Elven, Yennefer of Vengerberg, is undoubtedly among the most powerful mages on the Continent. Of all the sorcerers in the series, Yennefer displays her magical abilities the most, demonstrating remarkable mastery over spells by bending the forces of chaos.
However, born with a congenital hunchback, the untrained Yennefer possessed such a raw talent that she opened a portal to Aertuza.
While training at Aretuza, she constantly quenched her thirst for power, even sacrificing her fertility in exchange for her physical transformation. In the Battle of Sodden Hill, Yennefer positions herself as the vanguard of the defense for Northern Realms, unleashing fire as a torrent, single-handedly destroying the Nilfgaardian forces, though at the great cost of temporarily losing her magic.
