The long-awaited 1.0 release of7 Days to Diehas been met with a mix of excitement and frustration. Many players are happy to see the game finally leave early access after almost 12 years, but not all is going well.

It looks like some aspects of the update are causing some unrest within the community which may or may not have been a misunderstanding in the first place.
7 Days to Die’s Update Makes Early Game Less Enjoyable, Says Redditor
A recent Reddit post has captured the7 Days to Diecommunity’s attention. The user, who has been playing the latest experimental build, is not a fan of the crafting skills system and doesn’t hold back.
OP explains they’re a ‘stay-at-home’ type of player, i.e., the one who stays back at base to craft, cook, build, and do other base-related upgrades while the others explore, kill, and loot.

However, the ‘new’ crafting system has completely extinguished that kind of playstyle, supposedly.
OP is referring to the overhaul of the crafting skills system introduced by the developers to address two main issues—preventing players from skipping the progression of tool and weapon tiers and decoupling crafting unlocks from specific perk classes.

With the update, players now need to read various quantities of crafting skill Magazines to progress through crafting tiers. If you’re at base-building at home, you’re not going to get your hands on these Magazines.

This change was made for balancing, but it hasn’t been well-received by everyone. OP misses the days when they could focus on base-building and crafting without having to venture into difficult territories.
OP Might Be a Little Misinformed on the New System
OP might’ve misunderstood the new system’s nuances. The update was introduced in the Alpha 21 update back in June 2023, and the Reddit community was quick to point this out.
Maybe OP was holding out untilthe current-gen console update was releasedto play it again.

Some suggested that the OP’s frustration might be solved with some teamwork. Their friends could gather and share the necessary crafting skill Magazines to help the OP progress without leaving the base.
Also having a designated ‘looter’ in the group could solve the problem. The replies insinuated that if the OP’s friends weren’t willing to help in this manner, they might need better friends.

The crafting might frustrate players who prefer a more stationary and crafting-focused playstyle at first.
However, understanding the system and using the power of teamwork can go a long way. Teamwork makes the dream work.
Do you think OP’s concern about the new system is fair, or are the replies providing a much-needed reality check? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
