Fntastic has confirmed thatThe Day Beforehas been delayed by a further nine months, and will now be released on November 10th. The statement issued by the studio states that the delay is related to a trademark issue with the name of the game.“Right before the release, Steam blocked our game page at the request of a private individual, because of the name The Day Before”, the statement reads. Fntastic then goes on to explain that when The Day Before was announced back in January 2021, the trademark was available. Following the announcement, the anonymous individual reportedly filled out an application before the developers to register the trademark ‘The Day Before’ within the United States.READ MORE:The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Now Slated To Release By September 2023Despite the trademark application being filled out two years ago, Fntastic says it was not made aware of the issue until January 19th of this year. The studio says it will “definitely solve everything”, but due to the trademark issues, The Day Before has been delayed by a rather drastic nine months.“We previously planned to post a lengthy gameplay video later this month, but we’ll have to sort this issue out first. We will post a video asap”, Fntastic said. In regards to the delay, the studio said, “We understand this may disappoint many of our fans, however we want to ensure we release the best possible game.”, Fntastic says. A follow-up tweet says that gameplay will be released once the studio has consulted with its lawyers.

The final line of Fntastic’s statement indicates that there are more than just trademark issues. As the delay is over nine months and the studio says it wants to ensure they release the best possible game, it’s possible that this comes down to more than a trademark issue.

The Day Before was previously scheduled to release on March 1st for PC, but will now be made available on November 10th. Currently, the Steam store page for the game has been removed due to the trademark issue.
