Leonardo DiCaprio has established himself as an A-lister in Hollywood thanks to his iconic roles in various films over the years. His partnership with Martin Scorsese is also well known by now. However, it appears he and Scorsese could have worked together on a film that would’ve madeKillers of the Flower Moonlook childish in comparison.

Leonardo DiCaprio fearlessly embraces things that aren’t exactly easy to accept, sich bold roles as an actor. Hailed as a trailblazer, he is known for pushing boundaries and challenging norms in the film industry for good reason.

Cancelled Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio Movie Could Have Been Their Darkest Yet

Martin Scorsese andLeonardo DiCaprio’scollaborations, while impressive, are overshadowed by an unmade project from years ago. Originally set to be directed by Scorsese and starring DiCaprio,The Devil in the White Citywould have explored the notorious serial killer H. H. Holmes and his horrific ”Murder Castle,” based on Erik Larson’s book. Despite the historical debates surrounding Holmes, the sensationalist nature of his crimes promised a very brutal and dark biopic – something fans would have loved.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro in a scene from Killers of The Flower Moon

While the reality of H. H. Holmes’s killings may have been less dramatic than others claimed, he did commit a ridiculous number of murders and commissioned a purpose-built “Murder Castle”. The con artist’s contradictory accounts of his own life, combined with the pacing of Larson’sThe Devil in the White City, made it clear that DiCaprio and Scorsese’s series could have been a deeply unsettling horror story. However,Killers of the Flower Moonbecame the sole serial killer biopic resulting from DiCaprio and Scorsese’s collaboration and this remains a shame in a big way since fans expected more from those two.

The Devil in the White Citychanged from a Martin Scorsese-directed movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio to a TV show with Keanu Reeves in the lead role but has faced setbacks. The project, now abandoned, no longer has Reeves as H. H. Holmes, and director Todd Field, initially set to direct the first two episodes, is no longer involved. Despite uncertainties, Scorsese and DiCaprio may remain attached as executive producers if the project eventually moves forward somewhere down the line, but there is no certainty of that ever happening.

”For sure. It’s Robert De Niro. I did my first major role in a movie with Robert De Niro. Exactly 30 years later, getting to work with him again, almost doing a verison of that movie, of the abused stepchild, whose father figure has a mental control over him and is abusive. So it felt like home. Felt like an intrinsic part of my childhood and I fit right into those shoes.”

Killers of the Flower Moongot a ton of props from both fans and critics, positioning itself as a frontrunner in the upcoming Oscars race. The question remains whether DiCaprio and De Niro will work together again in the future, keeping fans guessing till then.
