The Gleeok is a fearsome monster flying through the skies of Hyrule. Even among some serious competition, the Gleeok is likely the toughest miniboss you can encounter. And to top it all off, there are four variants of the beast.

Tears Of The Kingdom Upgrading Rubber Rights At A Great Fairy

You’ll be using almost the same strategy for each version of the Gleeok you come across, but where the differences lie will mean a hard focus. Lest you succumb to a harsh chill, lightning bolt, fireball, or all three at once.

Best Armor Upgrades

Make no mistake about this;if you haven’t upgraded your armor you are not ready to fight a Gleeok. All of their attacks take several hearts, even when you shield against their specific element. As for those elements, you’ll be up against creatures that either useice, fire, orelectricattacks. There’s an exception to this rule, asa King Gleeok will use all three elements.

As such, you shouldupgrade specific armor sets to at least level 2 as you will learn to unlock an ability that can nullify attacks. For example, TheRubber Armorset will becomeimmune to lightning if the full set is upgraded twice, and theSnowquill Armorwillmake you immune to being frozen if the full set is upgraded twice. These are respectively wonderful for the Thunder and Frost Gleeoks. As for the King Gleeok, wear a full set and eat a meal with a different resistance. These status effects can be annoying at best, and fight-ending at worst, so prepare for them.

Fighting The Gleeok

There are some basic rules about how the Gleeok fights, and they will be consistent between the variants. To start, the Gleeok will attack with a focused breath attack based on its element. This can be shielded against butonly if you have a powerful enough shield, a weaker one will break almost instantly. This breath attack will also carry the secondary effects of the element unless you are protected, so, for example, the breath attack of the Thunder Gleeok will force you to drop your weapon unless you have elemental coverage like the Rubber Armor.

As for damaging the Gleeok,it will be flying at the start of the fight,so your only option is to shoot arrows at it. Just like theFroxand theHinox, the eye is the weak point. Unlike those other monsters, the Gleeok has a total of three eyes with one per head, and each eye will have a small health bar.

You have to shoot arrows at an eye until the health bar is depleted, then quickly do this to the other eyes before the health regenerates.A defeated head will slump over. In addition, if you use Keese or Aerocuda eye to force a perfect shot, arrows will always fly toward an eye that hasn’t been knocked out yet, and this will even work for bows that fire multiple arrows.Due to this, the best-recommended bow is aLynel bow.

When all three heads are down, the Gleeok will drop from the sky, and you may start attacking the heads with your melee weapon. Eventually, the Gleeok will get back up, but it will stay on the ground for a set amount of time, allowing easier shots than before.

Tears Of The Kingdom Link Knocked Over From Frost Gleeok Wing Attack

This unfortunately leaves you open to a different attack. When you get too close to a grounded Gleeok,it will flap its wings to send you away and knock you over for a while. When a Frost Gleeok does this, it can also create snowballs that roll away but at effectively harmless.

Shoot arrows at the Gleeoks heads until you knock it unconscious again, and then once you’ve brought the Gleeok a littlepast half of its remaining health bar,you need to steel yourself for its ultimate attack.

Gleeok’s Final Attack

The Gleeok will decide this is the final straw and do an ultimate attack. The Gleeok will fly high into the air and breath a cloud that sends a powerful elemental strike. The Flame Gleeok will summon a massive fireball, the Thunder Gleeok will strike multiple lightning bolts, the Frost Gleeok will drop large icicles, and the King Gleeok will combine these. Typically, the King Gleeok chooses the lighting bolts and icicles to send down at the same time.

The fireball and the lightning boltswill create an updraft you may fly up with your paraglider. This will send you higher than the Gleeok, giving you the shots you need. With the fireball, justoutrun the radius and then updraft, while with the lightning you can just stand in it with the upgraded Rubber Armor and then start gliding without concern. It’s the Frost and King Gleeok’s attacks that are the hardest to deal with.

There isno updraft from the icicles.Instead, you have to manage to climb onto oneand then use recall to send it back into the skies.Even with that method, the King Gleeok version will be difficult asyou then have to watch out for a fireball or lightning bolt as well. There is a method to avoid this altogether.

When the Gleeok beings rising, take your bow and fuse eyeballs to it and shoot them before the Gleeok flies too high. You can kill it before the attack even launches this way.

Yes, kill, as the Gleeok flies so high in the air for this attack thatthe fall damage will usually remove the last of its health.

Gleeok Horns

The notable loot for this miniboss is the Horns, which havefuse power of 30 and an elemental bonus.A regular Gleeok will drop three of the associated element, while the King Gleeok drops one of each associated element.
