Thestore pagefor one of the most highly anticipated games at the moment, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, was recently updated, and though it relays no new information about the game itself, it is now stamped with the familiar ESRB logo, officially confirming that the sequel has been rated in North America.

The rating shouldn’t really surprise anyone. Just like the original Breath of the Wild, released in 2017, Tears of the Kingdom is rated Everyone 10+, its content descriptors being “Fantasy Violence” and “Mild Suggestive Themes.” What’s most pertinent is that this is a good sign for the game’s slated release date of August 11, 2025. Breath of the Wild was famously delayed several times, originally touted to release in 2015.

Tears of the Kingdom has been no different. The then-unnamed title was revealed in E3 2019, with many fans hoping its release date would come soon since it would be a direct sequel, something uncommon for The Legend of Zelda series. It was instead completely absent from Nintendo Directs for two years, likely due to Covid. In E3 2021, it got a 2022 release window, and then in early 2022, it was delayed to 2023.

Finally, at Nintendo’sSeptember Directthis year, the game’s official title was confirmed, as was its specific release date. This, of course, doesn’t mean the game is safe from further delays. They are quite commonplace these days throughout the entire industry. But just recently, it wasreportedthat the game had been rated in South Korea (players age 12 or older). Now, with this ESRB rating confirmed, it’s looking more and more likely that the widely desired sequel will hit its declared date.

The new things Tears of the Kingdom will bring to the table have only been teased so far, but the trailers have shown that there will be some sort of time reversal mechanic that will seemingly make objects shoot back toward the direction they came from. Furthermore, the most recent trailer, as seen above, confirmed that Link will now have some sort of flying glider. Not like the paraglider from the first game, but a flying disc he’ll probably have much more control over.
