An interview with the director of the Nioh franchise Fumihiko Yasuda and the producer behind Bloodborne Masaaki Yamagiwa has recently been published byVGC, during which the developers have talked about Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty as well as the possibility of having other Team Ninja titles on Xbox.

When Team Ninja’s Yasuda was asked if there is a chance for Xbox players to play Nioh 1 or 2 in the future, the director replied that “there’s not really too much of a possibility of having Nioh on Xbox platforms.”

Both Nioh titles were launched as PlayStation console exclusives, and it seems like the deal between Sony and Koei Tecmo for the exclusivity of the game is stronger than expected. Also, we should take this fact into account that Sony Interactive Entertainment is the official publisher of both games outside of Japan, which makes it even harder for Xbox fans to get their hands on these titles on their beloved console.

Team Ninja is currently working on two big projects for the future, including Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty as a multiplatform game that will be launched directly on Xbox and PC Game Pass as well as Rise of the Ronin, which is a PlayStation 5 exclusive open-world game coming in 2024.

During the interview, the developers also talked about their upcoming title Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Masaaki Yamagiwa explained how his experience from Bloodborne has helped Team Ninja to maintain a fair difficulty level for the game as they want players to understand where they made a mistake or messed up, so they can work on their weaknesses and come back stronger.

The developers confirmed that Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will remain a mission-based linear game as it is something that Team Ninja is specialized in. According to Yasuda, each mission will have a lot of action and enemies to fill the game with enough content.

Despite Elden Ring’s incredible success, Team Ninja’s Yamagiwa thinks “there’s still a lot of possibility for doing new things in the more mission-based format and structure.” The producer also teased a new morale system that they have designed for Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, which will punish players for dying to weaker enemies and reward them for killing harder bosses.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty has been scheduled for 2023.
