Last week,a report surfacedabout the development hardships BioShock 4 is facing, which has even led to developer Cloud Chamber’s change in upper management.
While this might seem like the end of the game as we know it, that’s apparently not the case, and this comes from the head of Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of 2K Games.

BioShock Creator Wants You To Get The Whole Game With Judas
Ghost Story Games is battling through development hell to finish their upcoming FPS game Judas.
Even if we haven’t seen a second of official gameplay or any other information, Take-Two is very confident that the game will see the light of day.

BioShock 4 Will Surface, Promises Take-Two CEO
Speaking toIGNahead of its quarterly earnings report, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick was asked about the future of BioShock 4 following the report and whether it was in danger of being canceled.
Zelnick didn’t beat around the bush and said, “It’s going to come out. That I can say hand on heart, without question,” which should be reassuring to BioShock fans.

Continuing on the topic, Zelnick explained why BioShock 4’s development has been tumultuous, partly due to the franchise’s expectations. Zelnick commented, “We don’t talk about how long our development cycles are…We have had some ups and downs along the way. That is accurate. And we have had changes in studio leadership. That said, we have very big shoes to fill on BioShock because of the legacy of Ken Levine, the legacy of what has gone before, which has been so successful. And we need to make sure that this experience is true to the BioShock DNA on the one hand, and a massive step forward on the other hand. That’s always challenging. We think we’re up to the challenge, but it has not been seamless.”

And don’t you try telling us it’s ‘not trying to be.’
Well, there you have it,BioShockfans, the fourth installment is still happening. We haven’t seen anything tangible about the in-development game, so we don’t expect to see it anytime soon.

Alsomentioned in the reportis how 2K canceled a BioShock remake, which is exactly what the franchise needs right now. Given the first BioShock was released almost 20 years ago in 2007, there’s a very big possibility that not a lot of younger games are familiar with the franchise. The latest release was BioShock Infinite, and that was more than 10 years ago in 2013. A remake of the original is a perfect way for newcomers to become familiar with the IP, as well as reinvigorate the player base that has been waiting for something new for over a decade.
Are you still looking forward to BioShock 4? Or has it been too long, and 2K needs to release a remake first to drum up hype for the franchise once more?
