Was it a bad career move forSydney Sweeneyto get involved in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe? Not at all, as the actress believes that the project was a“strategic business”move for her.

She shared in an interview withGQ,
“To me, that film was a building block, it’s what allowed me to build a relationship with Sony. Without doing Madame Web I wouldn’t have a relationship with the decision-makers over there.”

She continued,
“Everything in my career I do not just for that story, but strategic business decisions. Because I did that, I was able to sell Anyone But You. I was able to get Barbarella.”

Despite the highly anticipated superhero film bombed at the box office, it is less likely to bother Sweeney who expressed her desire to be back in the franchise. Having portrayed the character of Julia Cornwall aka Spider-Woman in the movie, she is down to return to the franchise.
In the same interview, she stated,

“I think that if the story is right and you have the right team, I would love to.”
She also seems to be unbothered by the film’s negative reviews as she added,

With the movie grossingunder the $100 million mark globally, it is available to rent/purchase digitally online on Prime Video and Apple TV+. The Blu-ray/DVD versions will become available on April 30.
