Whenever you talk about recent great titles, your mind cannot go pastBaldur’s Gate 3. This MMORPG won everyone’s heart, whoever played it. Despite the abundance of some of the greatest titles, likeMarvel’s Spider-Man 2,Starfield,Diablo 4, and many more, the Larian Studios title came out to become the Game of the Year in 2023.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has to face rush development at the end to reach the release date, says Swen Vincke.

Although the success of the game never came in handy overnight, the developing studio had to dig in rigorously to find out the precious gem inBaldur’s Gate 3. That’s what the CEO of Larian Studios says.

Swen Vincke and His Team Had to Crunch a Bit to Finish Baldur’s Gate 3

In a recent Poland-based Digital Dragons conference, Vincke spoke about the challenges and hardships developers have to face during making a game, especially about the crunch of developingBaldur’s Gate 3(viaGames Radar).

This is what Vincke had to say about the last phase of the development of the game:

Swen Vincke’s Baldur’s Gate 3 Morning and Evening Routine Was So Obsessive It Would Have Broken Anyone Else

You will always have a little bit [of crunch] when you’re trying to finish something, especially when there’s so much complexity that needs to be brought together.

The CEO has stated that the developers had to work overtime to finish the work on the game. Working beyond the capabilities and stipulated time frame is nothing new in the gaming industry.

As per Swen Vincke, there won’t be any sequel of Baldur’s Gate 3.

Feasible release sometimes demands heavy overtime to surface the product in time. Larian Studios was not an exception either. They even had to push their capabilities to the extreme to release their most popular title. Although, keeping in mind the gigantic amount of content this game offers, the overtime is quite understandable.

What’s Next for Swen Vincke and the Baldur’s Gate 3 Makers?

In April, Vinckeshared his thoughts about Larian Studiosand its future roadmap. He stated that Larian is not one of those companies that is focused on yielding 40–50 similar titles at the same time.

“Our biggest fear…”: Baldur’s Gate 3’s Swen Vincke and Larian Studios had 1 Huge Fear that Threatened to Derail the Development

He also said that there won’t be anotherBaldur’s Gateor any DLC for this game. Here’s what he said:

I like that the games we’re making have an end because then I can move on to the next one. We’re not making another BG or DLC because we’re done. We want to move on to something new.

So, what’s next for Vincke and Co.? Although the CEO decided to remain tight-lipped, some hints about what lies ahead were still dropped.

He expressed his desire to make titles in the future, which will have a definite end, maybe another RPG title, as he surely has no enthusiasm for live service titles, which is right now a trend in the gaming industry.
