Street Fighter 6will have both you and your opponents engaging in up close and personal combat exchanges for a very large portion of the game. Lots of characters play the close-range game, and lots play the mid-range game, but some like to take even more steps back and fight from a volleying distance.

These characters are referred to as Zoners, and one of thebest Zonersin the game’s long-running history is Dhalsim.

Dhalsim’s Strengths In Combat

There is nowhere Dhalsim’s opponents are safe from him. Dhalsim hasincredible reachthanks to his stretchy limbs. This allows him to poke at his opponents from very far away, and the closer they are, the sooner Dhalsim’s attacks will hit. He also has several close-range attacks as part of his kit for when his opponents can close the distance.

Dhalsim is great for fighting both on the ground and in the air, making him able to exploit an opponent that is not as effective in one area. With lots of movement options such as his teleportation, Dhalsim is able to change up what range his opponent has to deal with him at a moment’s notice.

Dhalsim’s Weaknesses In Combat

Dhalsim is a ratherslow and slugging-moving character, making him rely on teleportation and following up with attacks to control the range of the fight. Players that can rush and close the gap quickly will have a huge advantage over the fight.

This means Dhalsim players will need to be on the ball and in control at all times, or they will be dealing very little damage. Dhalsim ispoor under pressure, and it takes a lot of his resources to recover from being rushed.

Dhalsim’s Best Moves & Strategies

Dhalsim needs to make use of the vast majority of his kit to be an effective combatant, and as such, his projectiles and attacks come in many shapes and forms.

Dealing With Long Range Opponents

Not a problem, as this is how you want to fight for most of the game. Keep them at a distance and hit them with lots of long-range normal and projectiles. Dhalsim is a zoner; most enemies will fear being stuck at long range against him.

Dealing With Short Range Opponents

While Dhalsim has some close-range options, being up close and personal with his foes is not somewhere he generally wants to be. When opponents attempt to close the gap, teleport out of the way or behind them and follow up with a special move to put some pressure on them.

Yoga Teleport. This is your go-to for movement, and you should make use of it to its fullest.

Dhalsim’s Difficulty Curve

Dhalsim is not an easy character. In fact, you should definitelytry one of the easier characters, likeKenorKimberly, for learning all the game’s mechanics. If you really only care about zoning characters,Guileis an easier option to start one. Once you have a firm grasp of the game and its mechanics, you may move on to Dhalsim. Another great Zoning character to try out is JP, but he is even harder to master than Dhalsim.
