Street Fighter 6has wrapped up anextended gameplay showcasedetailing all of the content to be made available in each of the game modes, what fans can expect from the upcoming Year 1 Character Pass, and even more, it has dropped a free demo for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners to try right now. Xbox and PC gamers will be able to check out the demo a little later on April 26 at 12 pm PT.
The most notable-and arguably revolutionary-aspect of the showcase is undoubtedly the character creator. In addition to the usual roster of fighters, players will be able to live up to the Street Fighter name by creating custom avatars and fighting other custom-made characters online and offline in a seamless street hub world. The avatar will be able to use any combination of moves just like Xenovearse in a way, and players will get to come up with never-before-seen creative palettes of fighting moves and character templates.

The second revolutionary aspect of Street Fighter 6 is sound design accessibility. The game will make different beeps depending on how far away you are from your opponents, what moves you are using, or how much energy you have left in your drive gauge. Of course, there are plenty of tutorials and character guides, as well as modern control schemes, automatic buttons, and AI assists to help anyone of any skill level enjoy the rowdy action.
Everything else is here, Arcade Mode, Team Matches, Extreme Battle Rulers, and Custom Rooms with Match Viewing, Crossplay, and Ranked Matches. Ranked play in particular has also received a new innovative gimmick to help ease the loss associated with falling in ranks, called the one-time Rank-Down Protection feature (for those who have a Diamond rank or anything below).
With this new feature, rookies will no longer lose league points when they are defeated to encourage online play. In addition, Iron-Gold and Master-ranked players will not suffer league demotions. Each character also has an individual rank, making it more accessible than ever to try out new characters in ranked matches.
Visually, characters will sweat, develop cuts and bruises, and show visible signs of combat at the end of their matches, making battles more engaging than ever. As for the Year 1 Pass, it will offer these 4 characters gradually over the course of the next year: Rashid (Summer 2023), A.K.I. (Fall 2023), Ed (Winter 2024), and Akuma (Spring 2024).
