Star Ocean The Second Story Rhas a wide list of specialties for players to learn, level up, and engage in to earn all sorts of bonuses and items. Specialties can be learned by any party member and can be completed by anyone who has learned the specialty.

One of these specialties is Fishing, which can be done in almost every body of water in the game. Fishing is a simple mini-game that can give players various kinds of fish or items, with fish being tradable for items.

How To Fish
Fishing is a Specialty that can be learned by upgrading two different specialty skills. In the IC/Specialty Skills menu, a character willneed levels in both the Biology and Item Knowledge skills.Afterinvesting levelsin both of these skills, that character willearn a level in Fishing and be able to fish.
After a character has a level in Fishing, head to any body of water;another character may note that this looks like a great place to fish.Interact with the water to cast your line, and three dots will appear on the character’s head.Whenever those dots turn into an exclamation mark, press the interact button again to pull the line into collect your reward.
When using basic bait, theusual catch will be small fish or chests with basic items within.As fish are caught, theycan be used as bait to try and catch larger fish or chests with better itemsbut will use up that fish instead of letting it be traded in.

What To Do With Fish
Fishing can offer all types of rewards after players meetReel, a character in the city of Harley.Harley is foundearly in the game and is traveled to after Marze.Reel is also a fisher and willreward the player for finding more species of fishand will also trade various items for caught fish.
As more species of fish are caught, visit Reel and look at the Rewards List, which willunlock various useful rewards as more species of fish are collected.These rewardswon’t take any fish from the player’s inventory.The other menu is the Trade Fish option, where Reel will eithertrade specific fish or just fish in general, acting as another type of merchant forClaude or Renato visit. For general items, playerscan trade any type of fish,just the right amount, whilebetter items will need to be traded for specific and rare types of fish.
