The Marvel Cinematic Universe wouldn’t have been standing today if it weren’t for legendary comic book writer Stan Lee. The writer had a cameo in almost all of the Marvel movies and the world loved him dearly.

However, Stan Lee did believe in one particular thing that the MCU should have done. Thankfully, the executives took their time with this particular project or we would have ended up withDaredevil 2!
Stan Lee Wanted ADaredevilMovie (Again)
It was the day of July 18, 2025 when the world was introduced to Ben Affleck as Matt Murdock in the filmDaredevil. The film, directed by Mark Steven Johnson, also starred Jennifer Garner as Elektra.
The film fell short of a number of things and the world considered the movie a disastrous failure but a good attempt at fletching out the character of Matt Murdock. It was in 2015 when Netflix picked up a project and converted the character’s journey into episodes with the seriesDaredevil.

“S*xually, that would seem to be a great asset in many areas”: Stan Lee Answered the Most Uncomfortable Question About The Thing and Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards
In a 2015 interview, legendary comic book writerStan Leetalked about how he wanted another Daredevil movie in an interview withBusiness Insider. According to the artist, aDaredevilmovie would have worked really well.
Daredevil didn’t do as well as everybody hoped. I think that, unfortunately, they didn’t portray him the right way. Sooner or later there will be another ‘Daredevil’ movie, and I think it will do very well.

Fortunately or unfortunately, a sequel toBen Affleck’sDaredevilwas never made and when Netflix did create a story, it was in episodic format on the streaming service.

Daredevilby Netflix found worldwide fame and critical acclaim until the contract ran out after 3 seasons. Upon much demand and request, the series was picked up by Marvel again, and the nameDaredevil: Born Againwas given.
Here’s Why aDaredevilMovie Wouldn’t Work
Well, there are a number of reasons why a Daredevil movie wouldn’t work but the predominant one that rises above all is that there’s not enough time. A movie has a fixed time length. Anything more than 2 hours is a risk of people walking out (of course there are exceptions).
The character of Daredevil is such a complex character that one cannot fit the entire journey of Matt Murdock into a tightly condensed two-hour movie. On the other hand, a series features the freedom to explore and take a deep dive into the character quite freely.

People would rather spend hours on a series than watch a 2-hour chaotic film that wants a little piece of everything. This was the reason why theDaredevilseries found critical fame while Ben Affleck’sDaredevilwas considered a failure.
The choice to pick up the character again withDaredevil: Born Againwas chosen as a series and not an MCU movie because of the same reason. With multiple seasons, innumerable episodes, and the freedom to play around, the character of Daredevil found far more success in episodes rather than in movies.
