While the beginning of the game opens up with a battle against Sandman to teach players the ropes of the game, there is still a lot that may not be noticed. Here are some tips and tricks for players who are just suiting up as Spider-Man.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

10Master Traversal

One of the most well-known aspects of Spider-Man is how he swings around the city of New York. Both Peter and Miles can swing around the city, each with their own unique styles, along with the newly obtained Web Wings to further help players get around the city.

Web swinging isn’t just used to get around the map but will also play a major part in many missions, requiring players to chase villains as they run amok through the city, so learning to swing fast and efficiently is important. Also, mastering the ability to do tricks while swinging will slowly earn XP for players that will add up over time and take one step closer to reaching max level.

9Use Skill Points Evenly

Both Peter and Milesshare the same level and XP.After leveling up, skill points can be assigned to any of the three available skill trees. The bigger of the three skill trees is for both Spider-Men, while the other two go to one Spider-Man each, upgrading their individual abilities and unique play style.

All skill points can be allocated however players see fit, but it’s important to level each of the skill trees evenly. Main missions will require players to play as both Spider-Men, so it’s important to ensure they are equally powerful.

8Learn To Parry

One of the new components of Spider-Man 2 is the ability to parry incoming attacks. Parrying can be used in place of dodging but is also necessary to deal with powerful attacks that can’t be dodged. The timing and button on parrying are different, so it’s important to learn how to do it properly early in the game.

Later game enemies and bosses will more often use undodgable attacks and make parrying a necessity to win a battle. Parrying also breaks an enemy’s guard and can leave them defenseless to be hit with a powerful combo of attacks.

7Complete Side Content

While players can run through Spider-Man 2 only completing the main mission, New York is a massive city with a lot to do. As players progress through the main story, more bits of side content will begin to populate the city, all of which can be completed to get useful tokens to upgrade suit tech, gadgets, and even unlock new suits to wear.

Completing side content will also give a bit of XP each time and will altogether make both Spider-Men much more powerful and prepared for the bosses later in the game. There are also a few side storylines that involve characters not mentioned in the main story and further flesh out the world and characters in the game.

6Switch It Up

While not completing main missions and some side missions, players are able to decide which Spider-Man they want to play as. Both characters will have difficult bosses to face later in the game, so it’s important to play as each of them often to familiarize yourself with how they play and what their abilities do.

Some side content in the open world is also locked to who can complete it, making it important to switch between characters often when free roaming. Of that locked-off side content, some things won’t even be marked on your map or mentioned until you take control of a specific character and take a phone call that then opens up new content.

5Prioritize Your Upgrades

All of the upgrade materials in the game are used to upgrade Suit Tech, Gadgets, and buy new suits. While all the upgrades can make players stronger in some way, certain upgrades are far superior to others and should be prioritized early in the game.

While buying new suits can be fun, and gadgets seem useful, the Suit Tech tree is the best use for upgrade materials. The Health, Damage, and Focus trees should be maxed out as early as possible, with Focus being the top priority. Upgrading the Focus tree will eventually unlock three focus bars, which greatly help with healing and finishers.

4Be The Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

Crimes are random events that happen near the area the player is currently in. Crimes are often short fights or chase scenes that can be completed quickly but will disappear after a while or if the player gets too far away.

Crimes should be completed as often as possible, as they will give XP, which can be increased depending on what players do when stopping the crime, along with getting more items needed for upgrades. Stopping crimes also has the chance of the other Spider-Man joining in, leading to a fun fight along with a nice team-up bonus of XP.

3Juggling & Launching

Both Spider-Men have various skills and a few gadgets that launch enemies up in the air or can juggle them in the air longer. Having your enemies up in the air is not only good for creating devastating combos but also provides great crowd control, as Spider-Man is almost always outnumbered.

Gadgets are earned back quickly in combat, and skills can regenerate, making them both great methods for launching enemies up in the air to give players a break to focus on other enemies in a fight. It’s difficult to get good combos in with many enemies shooting from all directions, and launching them up in the air is a great short-term solution that can also be led into a mid-air juggle.

2Aim For Longer Combos

There are multiple upgrades available that reward players for getting longer combos with enemies. Even with damage upgrades, the average enemy will require a few hits to take down, and mixing in dodges and other enemies can open up players to incredibly long combos, and the game rewards those.

Through various skills and Suit Tech upgrades, long combos can eventually heal the player, restore more Focus, and make abilities recharge faster, all of which are a necessity in some of the longer fights in the main story. Learning how to combo an enemy and continue that combo through a dodge or into another enemy can be mixed with useful upgrades to make Spider-Man devastating even when greatly outnumbered.

1Get Stronger With The Main Story

While the side content in the game gives players upgrade materials, the main story will also unlock new abilities for both Spider-Men. Miles and Peter start the game with the same abilities as the previous games but will continue to grow and learn new things through this story.

Completing the main storywill not only strengthen the characters but will also unlock new skills to be upgraded in their respective skill trees. Mixing both main missions and side content is crucial to making both Spider-Men as strong as possible.
