Light of Motiram wasrevealed at the end of 2024. It’s an upcoming open-world survival game, which clearly takes inspiration from a ton of sources. Now thatNintendo is suing PocketpairoverPalworld, it seems that other companies have decided to start throwing down the legal gauntlet. According toReuters, Sony is suing Tencent over Light of Motiram, alleging copyright and trademark infringement due to similarities with the Horizon series.

Is Light Of Motiram Too Close To Horizon?
Sony described Light of Motiram as a “slavish clone” of the Horizon series, mentioninghow journalists have highlightedthe comparisons in the media. A trailer for the game is available on the official Light of Motiram YouTube channel, so fans can see for themselves.
There are definitely similarities between the two games, especially regarding the enemy design, as the animalistic robot mechs could easily have stepped out of a Horizon game. While the individual Light of Motiram characters look more cartoonish than the Horizon, their clothing looks very similar.

The gameplay isn’t as close of a match, but that’s due to Light of Motiram using a vast variety of styles. If anything, the combat lookscloser to the Monster Hunterseries than it does to Horizon. The game is trying to cram a lot in there, which makes it look more generic than anything else.
Copyright can be a surprisingly hard thing to defend in cases like this, as arguments can be made for Light of Motiram being just different enough to be distinct. Fans will just have to wait and see how it plays out.
