The Statue Of God Is Not The Real Boss
In the webcomic, they unexpectedly find themselves in a high-difficulty dungeon, andthis statue is part of a room where they need to solve a riddle to survive. The statue is depicted as a being with a serene, almost mocking smile, which is why it could be referred to as the ‘smiling god.’ It’s an ominous figure that seems to be watching the hunters as they try to understand the rules of this deadly test they’ve been thrust into.
The statues are more than mere decorations; they are part of a lethal test. The hunters in the room are presented with a riddle, and the key to their survival lies in correctly interpreting and acting upon this riddle. The enigmatic smiling statue serves as a silent overseer to this deadly puzzle.

As the hunters try to solve the riddle, they mistakenly cause the statues to come to life and attack. The hunters are quickly overpowered, suffering heavy casualties. In the midst of this chaos,Sung Jin-Woo alone deduces the correct course of actionand kneels before the statue, showing the required reverence. His actions halt the assault, but not before he is mortally wounded.
As he lies dying, he experiences a mysterious phenomenon: a prompt asking him if he wishes to become a ‘Player,’ which he accepts. Upon his agreement, Jin-Woo’s body is enveloped by a strange energy, and he finds himself alone in the dungeon, fully healed and now connected to a game-like system that only he can see. However, this was all part of agrand planthat the statue—or rather, the real architect behind it—had schemed for Jin-woo from the start.

Who Is The Architect?
The Architect is the real boss of the Double Dungeonand not the Statue of God. He is the designer of the system that Jin-Woo uses to become stronger. However, he is not introduced until much after Sung Jin-Woo obtains his leveling system. The Architect is the one who orchestrated the trials and challenges within the double dungeon where Sung Jin-Woo first received his power.

When Jin-Woo encounters the Architect, he learns more about the nature of the system, his place within it, and the broader conflict that underpins the story’s world. The Architect himself serves as a significant adversary, testing Jin-Woo’s limits andpushing him to growbeyond the constraints of the system he initially designed.

Architect’sEnd Goal
The Architect’s primary objective was to identify and prepare a human vessel suitable for Ashborn, one of the Monarchs. To expedite this process, the Architect engineered a complex system designed to test and cultivate potential candidates through a series of trials and challenges. This system was implemented in the form of dungeons, where humans could grow stronger and prove their worth.
After an exhaustive search that didn’t yield the desired results, the Architect finally encountered Sung Jin-Woo, who not only surpassed the trials but also demonstrated unprecedented potential. Despite Jin-Woo’s exceptional performance, the Architect was skeptical about him and initially resisted Jin-Woo as theShadow Monarch’s vessel.

Is There A God In Solo Leveling?
Interestingly, the ‘Statue of God’ is a replica of the true God in the Solo Leveling series– The Absolute Being. In the beginning, there was only the Absolute Being, the primal force from which light and shadow were born. It is from this duality that the Rulers and Monarchs emerged, sculpted from the essence of order and chaos, respectively. The Rulers were envisioned as custodians, and their purpose was to shield the realms from harm.
In contrast, the Monarchs were harbingers of ruin, destined to unravel the threads of creation. Their existence was inherently at odds; the Rulers and Monarchs were drawn into an unending dance of conflict, a war that ravaged across time and space with neither side yielding. However, theRulers concluded that it was all just mere entertainment to the Absolute Being, and they felt betrayed.
