Ayelet Zurer’s version of Vanessa received a second chance in the MCU after she was recast initially in Disney’s revival of Netflix’sDaredevil. However, once the show was put under creative overhaul, the actress was asked to reprise her role, and she revealed that her character’s relationship with Wilson Fisk might not be all that it was made up to be at the end ofDaredevilSeason 3.
The actress revealed that all was not hunky dory for Wilson Fisk and Vanessa, given that there was a long separation between the characters, thanks to one of them being incarcerated and the other being free. Vanessa would also have taken over some of Kingpin’s operations, which might have led to some tension between the two when the latter got out of jail.

Daredevil: Born Againis set to pick up a while after Season 3 ofDaredevil. According to the teaser, Matt and Fisk have moved up in the world, with Wilson serving as the Mayor of New York City.
However, this throws into question where Vanessa would stand, given that the character seems to have taken over Fisk’s work while he was in prison, or soAyelet Zurersays about her character. She revealed (viaBusiness Insider):
Since he was gone, she took over a little bit and it’s very hard to pull away from that. So some things are not sitting well and they have to deal with that.
This might mean that there could be some palpable tension between Fisk and Vanessa, the kind that can spiral into a full-blown civil war in Fisk’s camp, something that the likes of Nelson, Murdock, and Page can take advantage of to bring down the mayor of New York dow.

Daredevil: Born Againis already set to feature a slew of other heroes. The Punisher and White Tiger are both confirmed to be part of the show. Given that Wilson Fisk is being essentially set up as a street-level Thanos, Daredevil might be hard-pressed to build out his ranks with other street-level vigilantes and heroes, which may or may not culminate in a film, or anotherDefenders-style miniseries, possibly titledMidnight Suns.

Wilson Fisk might not be at his best inDaredevil: Born Again, but it must be noted that he still has Daredevil’s secret identity as a trump card, should the need ever arise. It is a foregone conclusion that this will be used by the Kingpin before the conflict between the duo is done, which could cause the character to either lay low or find a workaround in the situation that Wilson Fisk is bound to put him in. Perhaps he could get some help from The Punisher, who has no secret identity, given his public trial.
