Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool is back with yet another R-rated, action-packed, filled with inappropriate references to the brim, and brutal dialogues inDeadpool & Wolverine. Although the movie will be released in July, the trailer has already generated heaps of memes, and hashtags, and is hiding countless Easter Eggs in each and every second.

While the movie seems to feature numerous nods to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, comic books, and the Fox Universe as well, Deadpool’s one gesture to Chris Evans’ Captain America is enough for every Marvel fan to lose their mind and make their day 10x better.
Deadpool’s Cheeky Gesture to Chris Evans’ Captain America
Chris Evans’ Captain America may be long gone, or perhaps even dead, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the events ofAvengers: Endgame. But Ryan Reynolds’Deadpool & Wolverineseems to have brought him back (not in actuality though!).
Deadpool 3: Hugh Jackman’s Patch Teases a Dark X-Men Storyline in Ryan Reynolds’ MCU Return Teaser
In one of the scenes shown in the trailer, the titular hero/anti-hero can be seen in the Time Variance Authority, looking at the numerous TV screens playing the many events and mighty acts of the Avengers in the current/main MCU timeline that we know of.
When the shots fromCaptain America: The Winter Soldierpops up on the screens, showing Captain America on one monitor and his shield on the other, in the true essence of his comic book character, Deadpool stands up straight and salutes the mighty shield slinger.

Unlike the rest of the characters in the whole comic book and cinematic universe of Marvel, Captain America is the sole character that Wade Wilson looks upto and respects. In the comic books, the two have teamed up numerous times, with Deadpool even falling prey at the hands of a fake, evil Steve Rogers inDeadpool (2015) #31.
Furthermore, the is could be a huge easter egg too, for in the comicDeadpool (2012) #15-19, Wade Wilson teamed up with Wolverine and Captain America to defeat a former Weapons Plus scientist called Butler. While this event solidified the trio’s friendship, inDeath of Wolverine: Deadpool & Captain America (2014)#1, they once again reunited after Logan was killed and Cap had his super soldier serum neutralized, leading to Deadpool and an old Steve Rogers fighting together.

Marvel Fans Love Deadpool Saluting Captain America
Even Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man Can Have a Cameo in Ryan Reynolds’s Deadpool 3
Deadpool and Captain America share a very sincere and loyal friendship in the comic books despite running into a few hurdles in their relationship. Both look upto each other and admire each other for their abilities. And so to have Ryan Reynolds’Deadpool & Wolverinepay respect to his childhood hero is one instance that Marvel fans cannot seem to get over.

While fans would definitely love to see Captain America share the screen with Deadpool after this one scene, the chances of this happening are bleak. But for now, fans seem to appreciate the movie for remaining true to its comic book origins and cannot wait to see what other surprises it has been hiding.
Deadpool & Wolverinewill be in theatres on June 01, 2025.
