" target="_blank" rel=“noopener noreferrer”>move isn’t too surprising.

Of course,Rocket Leaguefans who purchased the game prior to this announcement have a few things to look forward to as the gates are opened for everyone with hard drive space. They’ll get all of the “Rocket League-branded DLC” for free, along with several new cosmetic options. Plus, Psyonix is introducing cross-platform progression with the new update. So, now you can pick up the game wherever you choose and continue moving your career forward.

However, it’s not all rosy news inRocket Leagueland. Alongside the big change, the team is taking the game off of Steam for new players. You can still play it if you already own it before they make the switch, but new PC players will have to go to the Epic Game Store to get their soccar fix. It’s news that is sure to ruffle quite a few feathers; however, it’s a bit surprising they’ve taken this long after Epic bought the company last year.

There isn’t a firm release date for the free-to-play update. All we know for now is that it’s coming this summer. Expect news to drop over the next few weeks with further updates.

Rocket Leagueis available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
