The Miner is one of the more difficult classes to unlock simply because he is among the harder ones to find. A short-range damage dealer, Miner can be incredibly powerful in the right hands. Here is how to unlock him as a playable class.
Where To Find The Miner
You canfind the Miner in the Magma Barracks, one of the two possible maps of the fourth level. In the Magma Barracks, head to thebottom right corner of the map, and you should see the entrance to alava tunnelcontinuing off-screen to the right. Jump into the lava and follow the path to the right.
The lava deals small, consistent damage that can kill you if you’re not careful. verify your character is atfull healthbefore jumping into the lava.
Not all variants of the Magma Barracks have the Miner. If you’re unable to find the lava tunnel, chances are it isn’t there. attempt to find him again in the next run.
How To Cross The Lava
Characters with high movement or immunity abilities can easily traverse the lavawithout taking too much damage, but slower characters will have a much harder time reaching the other side. I used the Bandit’s Smokebomb skill to become immune while in the lava, but any Survivor with a high enough health pool can work.
Items that reduce incoming damage taken (Tough Times), give higher movement speed (Paul’s Goat Hoof), or grant more HP (Bitter Root) can be quite useful to make it easier to cross the lava as well.
How To Defeat The Direseeker
Once you cross the lava, you’ll find yourself in a big chamber guarded by anElder Lemurianelite, called the Direseeker, who isguarding the Miner. To unlock the Miner as a playable character, you’ll have todefeat the Direseeker.
This boss has around4000 healthand has all the same attacks as a regular Elder Lemurian, just more powerful. The best way to defeat him is to perma-stun him. This can be achieved either by Survivor skills or by items.Permafrostcombined with high attack speed is especially useful against the Direseeker since he can easily be perma-frozen. Close-range damage items like theBarbed Wireor theTesla Coilcan also come in handy here.
Once you defeat the Direseeker, a notification for completing the Excavation achievement will pop up, confirming that you have successfullyunlocked the Miner.
