As one of the most anticipated titles of 2021,Resident Evil: Villageis on track to deliver a next-gen horror experience sometime later this year. Though the series is traditionally known for its atmospheric single-player stories, the next installment in the series seems like it will once again dabble in multiplayer according to early details that have leaked.
According tothe description forVillageon the Humble Bundle Store page, it seems that the eighth mainline title in the series will include a multiplayer component calledResident Evil Re:Verse. As noted by Humble Bundle, pre-ordering the game includes access to theRe:Versemode alongside a bonus pack of items called the “Trauma Pack.”

You can check out the additional details onVillagebelow from the Humble Bundle store:
At the moment there isn’t a ton to go off of about whatRe:Verseactually is or plays like, but withtheResident EvilShowcase around the cornerfor later today, it’s likely that we won’t have to wait too much longer to learn more. As announced last week, the upcoming showcase will share more information and details onVillagealongside new gameplay footage; it also seems likeRe:Versewill get its official reveal during the showcase today.
Resident Evilhas obviously been no stranger to multiplayer, as last year’sResident Evil 3remake included its own multiplayer component calledResident Evil: Resistance. However, the series' multiplayer reception has been a bit more spotty compared to its single-player offerings, so we’ll have to see whatRe:Versecan do to shake up the formula and integrate what the series is best at: tense, atmospheric horror that has players trying to stay alive at all costs. Of course, we’ll have to see what that is like when you’re being pursued byan incredibly tall and attractive vampire lady.
Resident Evil: Villagewill release for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2021.
