When FBC Firebreak released just a short while ago, it didn’t quite get the responseRemedy Entertainmentwas hoping for. Launching on subscription services was likely a boon to its reputation on console - when a game lacks this much content, the low barrier to entry certainly helps.

FBC: Firebreak Launches To ‘Mostly Negative’ Steam Reviews

It’s not about what’s there, it’s about what’s missing.

Today, the developers at Remedy seek to address the launch issues with FBC: Firebreak, putting together a statement that illustrates the future of the game.

“It’s been exciting (and nerve-wracking) to see our first multiplayer game out in the wild,” the blog post reads. “Several things have gone well. Clearly, not everything has.”

It’s clear there are features that need to improve. And they will improve. Thank you for the feedback.

“While we can improve some features today and in the near term” the post clarifies, “some others will take longer and require more thinking from us.”

So, what is Remedy up to? They waste no time in explaining.

Right now, they look to improve that crucial first hour of gameplay. They want to give the User Interface and tutorials another pass, and they’ll be speeding up player progression through the game’s many unlockables.

As of today, the game has also overhauled how jobs work. Here’s the full list on that:

The Finnish company has become one of the best modern developers, and in this list we’ll see why.

Remedy Entertainment also wants to make it clear that this is not the full suite of changes coming to the game. Today’s post only aims to tackle what they’ll be working on in the short term. Presumably, a lot of their long-term goals are still being figured out - but eventually, they will come.

“We’ll continue listening, improving, and evolving the game together with our community.” The post concludes. “More updates soon.”

Will Remedy’s FBC: Firebreak Changes Be Enough To Fix The Game?

While today’s announcement doesn’t fully address people’s concerns with the game (namely, the low headcount for maps, weapons, enemy variety, and general content), these are no small steps.

We still don’t know when or how Remedy intends to fix these things, but this quick response coming alongside real changes is definitely a strong omen. If the devs keep up this pace, we could see great things for FBC: Firebreak in the future.

The core game itselfis plenty fun, it just needs more of itself. In some ways, that’s a good problem to have. Hopefully, the changes will come quickly enough that fans don’t fall out of love with what’s already there.
