Just before theSix Major Berlin 2022kicks off, Ubisoft officially unveiled Rainbow Six Siege Y7S3 Operation Brutal Swarm, introducing a brand new operator as well as applying a number of significant changes to the existing operators.
Operation Brutal Swarm adds Grim to the Attacker roster in Rainbow Six Siege as a new intel-gathering operator, brings Stadium as a new Competitive map to the game, and makes revolutionary changes to the recoil system, a new map ban system, and more changes and improvement.
Moreover, you can expect better control over your guns and attachments as the developers will deliver more attachments and sights to all guns.
Now, let’s have a look at each one of these changes coming in Rainbow Six Siege Operation Brutal Swarm:
New Operator: Grim
Grim is the new 3-Speed 1-Health Attacker in Rainbow Six Siege. His main gadget is Hive Launcher, which shoots an electronic bee canister to a target surface. Once the canister lands, electronic bees come out of it and if they find any player in their radius, they will land on the player and ping their location for all Attackers.
Grim’s primary weapons are a 552 Commando assault rifle and an SG-CQB shotgun. His secondary weapon is a P229 pistol. As a secondary gadget, he can either pick soft Breach Charges or Claymores.
Grim’s Hive Launcher has 5 bee canisters overall. Bee canister sticks to any surface and it cannot breach through a soft or reinforced wall. If a defender is inside Bee canister’s area, they will be pinged in real-time for attackers, and even if they run away, the ping will still mark them for a few seconds, similar to Alibi’s Prisma effect.
Even if the Bee canister falls into an empty space, the bees will come out and will start to roam within a certain radius, and if a defender comes inside the radius, bees will detect them and reveal their location. However, the Bee swarm only lasts for a certain amount of time, and it gets down when the battery hits zero.
Bee canister cannot be destroyed with bullets or explosives, however, there are a number of counters. Wamai’s Mag-Net can grab the bee canister and open it elsewhere, while Jager’s ADS can completely destroy the projectile. Aruni’s laser gates can also destroy a bee canister projectile. If a bee canister is hot inside a Mute’s Jammer area, it won’t be activated. Also, if the bee swarm follows someone inside the Jammer’s area, the bees will be destroyed at once. If a bee canister hits an electrified surface, it will be destroyed.
Last but not least, Vigil is the only operator that can run inside a bee swarm and remain undetected only when his special ability is on, which keeps him hidden from bees.
New Secondary Gadget: Impact EMP Grenade
It works similar to Thatcher’s EMP Grande, but it’s not as powerful. The moment it hits a surface, it will disable any electric device in the 2-meter radius for 9 seconds. Gridlock, Osa, Montagne, Sledge, Lion, Nokk, Dokkaebi, Blackbeard, and Recruit will get two Impact EMP Grenades as their new secondary gadget.
New Recoil System
The developers introduced a new recoil system that will in general makes it much harder to control weapons. Now, let’s make it clear that this new system only affects PC players.
In the new recoil system, there will be a recoil progression pattern for both vertical and horizontal recoil in proportion to the number of bullets you shoot. So, previously, there was a constant recoil intensity based on the recoil pattern of a single gun, but now, the recoil will get more intense the more you hold the trigger.
The figure below showcases the steps for vertical and horizontal recoil. As you can see, the recoil intensity increase starts sooner for LMGs compared to SMGs and assault rifles.
The developers are making these changes to make sure that the players with better aiming get the kills rather than players who simply spray and pray. Overall, you should learn to improve your crosshair positioning to get the kills.
Weapon Attachment Diversity
As the recoil system changes, Muzzle Brake and Flash Hider will be available for all weapons affected by the new recoil system. Also, more weapons will get Vertical Grip and Angled Grip. you’re able to expect more diversity of sights on weapons as well.
Rook And Dokkaebu Improvements
From the new season, Rook’s armor plate will be able to revive any defender that is in a DBNO state. When you are down, you’re able to use the withstand ability of the Rooks armor plate and get up with 20 health.
Dokkaebi’s Logic Bomb will now disable the access to the cameras to the dead players as well as the alive players, which makes her a little bit stronger.
New Competitive Map: Stadium
As Year 7 Season 3 begins, you will see Stadium added to the game as a permanent map. It will be available in all game modes, including Ranked and Unranked. This is the same map from the Road to SI limited-time mode, but the developers have made a number of minor improvements to make it more balanced as a ranked map.
It’s worth noting that this map will not be available in the esports map pool.
Reputation Penalty For Abusive Chats
When the new season begins, you will receive notifications if you send too many abusive and offensive messages to any other player in the in-game chat. If you continue to offend people, your chat will be disabled as a penalty, but you can still send people messages only if they decide to receive your message in the game. It is simply an automatic chat-mute feature, which is already available as a manual option.
Report Cheaters In Replay System
If you are watching a match replay and you realize a player was cheating during the match, you can report them inside the match replay system, which is the new ability for players to help developers ban cheaters.
New Map Ban System
In the new season, players will encounter 5 maps instead of 3 maps as the potential picks. Each team will still be able to ban only one map, which will increase the diversity of maps played in the Ranked and Unranked game modes.
New Bomb Detection System
As the new season begins, if you detect the location of the Bomb during the drone phase, it will be revealed on the spawn map for all players, which will help new players to recognize the bomb placements much better, and don’t get confused.
Battle Pass Gift System
From the next season, you will be able to gift Battle Pass to your friends. However, your friend should be on your Ubisoft Connect friend list for at least 90 days. This rule might change in the future.
Moreover, anyone who owns Battle Pass will get a 10% discount on every item in the in-game shop for the entirety of the season.
Castle Elite
As the new season launches, you will gain access to the new Elite set for Castle, one of the original operators of the games that should have received this set much earlier.
Operation Brutal Swarm Release Date
Rainbow Six Siege Operation Brutal Swarm will be available on Test Servers as of tomorrow, August 22. The new season is set to be launched on July 07, 2025, on live servers.
