After all, he was a big shot in the WesternStarCraftscene, competing in a multitude of tourneyleagues that garnered him his renown. He left all of that behind though, and is known these days for being a content creator with a new found focus on a number of other competitive games, includingMagic: The Gathering,Hearthstone, andDota 2(as well as casting and co-hosting tournaments on the side). His channel also features current popular games likeDredge,Elden Ring, andVampire Survivors, indicating that StarCraft is no longer his only cup of tea.In hislatest Dredge stream, Day9 expressed that he was very thankful for the fans' excitement, but stated that he won’t speaking about anything related to the game he’s developing for a long while, as games can change mid-development, and he wouldn’t want to be teasing fans with something that won’t really get realized.

Day9 had a brief experience with game design when he joined Artillery to work on the RTS game Guardians of Atlas. The game opened for beta testing in 2016, and unfortunatelywas canceled later that year. Plott alsoleft the companya month before the final closure.

As forwhy the game was discontinued, one of the engineers who worked on the game (Mark Logan) explained that the reason was simply the lack of a growing player base to signal that the game would be viable as a business. Hopefully Day9’s new game won’t end up being the same, and that’s probably why he’s being so secretive about it now.
